decor bonus mat on no decor stat builds still worth it?

i was wondering if using the +% decor boost mats on things like basic doors, piping, conductive wire, anything that has no + or - decor value would still be worth it, like if it maybe raises the decor of the values of other items in the same tile?

Test it and find out. Build a pipe from two resource one without the boost and one with. Separate them buy like 10 blocks and go into decor overlay and hover over it.

ya it doesnt say the item in the list of affectors, but with so many critters and dups that are grimy and what not, its hard to know if its changing the value.

As for piping, I think they are bugged, I recall them giving a negative decor, Now they give none

Editted my post, but yeah probably not. I know pipes used to have a negative decor.

I switch to granite for floors, portraits etc from sandstone as soon as I can....no idea how big an impact but I figure why not

Floors are only an increase of 0.5 each, on a fairly short range.  I don't do it anymore.

Portraits and Statues are a different story, and I would never build them out of anything else.

For me the question is 'why not?'. It's not like there is a shortage of granite. Even a tiny bonus is still more than no bonus and it doesn't take any longer to build. People don't realise that decor requirements aren't a binary either. There's more to it than just above/below expectation.
