I'm going to simplify this priority means you do the higher numbers first, in this game, it does not mean walking around in a giant circle get a few blocks here or sweeping a few things there.. like they do now! I've bugged this already and its not getting any attention I'd guess because its not changing. adding the Jobs menu you broke the priority system, and it is borked in the jobs menu to boot.. I shouldn't have to set things to 8 to get them noticed if everything is basically at 5.. but I do.. I used to use 8 for absloutely do it now,, and 9 for emergencies... that left 6 and 7 for high priority and 5 for normal work.. but even set to 8 they are still doing the dup shuffle off to the otherside, they are not staying and getting it done.. It can still be used this way. You just need to understand how the current system works and set it up so it works the way you want it to work. I work with Advanced mode on (upper right corner of priorities table) and auto-prioritize off (upper right corner of Jobs table). And I have given all dupes a proper "-" in all their job priority selections. I only had to give Toggle job a boost since dupes were taking eons to adjust a valve. But that's a workaround for something that will hopefully get fixed eventually. Zarquan Posted March 29, 2018 Share Posted March 29, 2018 The 1-9 is only a sub priority now. The duplicant's main priority is their personal priority. A dupe with a high priority on cooking and a normal priority on mining will prefer to do a cooking job at priority 1 to a mining job at priority 9. This is useful because it means you can specialize dupes and encapsulate jobs. Having a massive dig job at priority 9 will not stop the food from being cooked or the deoxidizers from being filled. Picking up blocks, Those dupes probably are prioritizing groundskeeping or delivery. It is a little annoying how they handle storage compactors now though. I would set the storage compactors to sweep only. That will stop them from doing what you describe. I like the direction the new priority system. All the jobs in my base are getting done. My farmers are applying their buff until all the plants are buffed, then going to do another task. I would like to see an urgent button for emergencies, like the * priority in the Occupation Update preview. Instead of communicating the new system and maybe making a video with examples so that people know what is going on, they leave it to people to figure it out. Maybe they cant afford to explain their game. Maybe they just want to get the updates out and see where everything settles. I'm not sure. The majority of issues this game has is communication. Hopefully the new encyclopedia will get all the information we need to understand what the game is doing verse what is suppose to be doing. Maybe that is part of the development process, make your updates and see what sticks. But IMO, this game is way to complex to not take the time to explain it. I have multiple issues and I don't know if it is a glitch, something not working right, or me screwing it up, because I am not so sure what it is suppose to do. Maybe that is the goal though, don't explain and let people enjoy the crazy. I have no clue. Klei hasn't really explained that either, so I don't know. I bet, they do, when ONI is growing up out of Beta. Would make not really sense, creating now pro tutorials, when every update could change everything. Outdated Videos could cause more confusion for new players, then own trial and error, if you ask me. That way as they change the setting or info, THEY are in charge of what information gets out. They control the videos and the publication of data. What you have now is people doing it on there own and the amount of bad info is massive because like you said, things change. He's right they don't follow priorities well. Laurond Posted April 29, 2018 Share Posted April 29, 2018 So far I've experienced few bugs with the new priority system (at least when advanced mode is turned on, I can't seem to figure out if all the inconveniently unexpected behavior with advanced mode off is intended or not).. except this one time where i had a dupe that kept digging even when its digging priority was set to "X - don't do it man!".. the only way to get that dupe to stop digging was to not have any active digging tasks. TheExceed Posted April 29, 2018 Share Posted April 29, 2018 I had one bug that dupe would not supply some goal generators because I had a wall of ladders infront of it. Lol. I put all my dupes on supply jobs with high priority and they wouldn't do it. Deleted the ladders and worked. After a restart, also fixed it. Was a pretty word bug. Im sure there are kinks to fix with the job system.
