It is difficult to use eggs for both cooking and incubating

Recommended Posts

Right now the simplest solution might be to have it so that eggs go into their own compactor, and if the amount of eggs is lower than x amount they turn off the electric grill that has the omelettes queued up. Just need to b able to queue eggs in the incubator.

In current R1, I try to breed hatches and use excess eggs for cooking (i.e. the same way one would in real life treat e.g. chicken). Except that it is not possible to select an egg for the incubator if the egg is not available, which makes things difficult. I have a grill with omelette recipe, dupes will take all eggs and put them there, which means that I have to catch the exact specific moment when an egg is available, which requires paying constant attention.

There's a somewhat similar problem also with plants, where I need the specific seed in order to plant it. So if I e.g. see a wheezewort, I can set up a flower pot, but I need to come back later only after dupes actually dig the wheezewort up. In this case however this can be at least worked around by copying settings from another pot (which shows that this is merely a UI thing).

I think it should be possible to select an egg for the incubator regardless of whether it's available or not. Maybe even better, the incubator should use UI in the style of the grill, allowing to queue up which eggs to incubate.

here's my solution.  Automate power going to a grill set for making omelets.  Have the fridge set hold as many eggs to fill your incubators and whenever you have extra the grill will turn on.  Have the filter gate set to 45s so your cook can make the last omelet that way it doesn't get stuck in a loop turning off the grill with the last egg20180316160810_1.thumb.jpg.aded93406ea6c30b3ed049aab09b4416.jpg20180316160801_1.thumb.jpg.2f7063a8c19a28390a501c968b02c139.jpg
