Hmmm, a project... Yeah, I normally go the open-system like @QuQuasar suggested. I posted an old one in the MKII or whatever it is thread a week or so ago. The problem with them is cooling. Gas spreads out of open systems fairly quick, but perhaps modern technology like temp shift plates and nullifiers and aquatuners have fixed that. Really it comes down to the following problem: "How do keep oxygen in your cooler long enough for it to cool, but also leave fast enough that it doesn't clog up the pressure of the system AND get where it's going AND be power efficient." Not the easiest question ever, but it looks like there are a few good answers. avc15
yeah i've done open systems before and they're kind of a nightmare. I am just wondering at a way to handle it elegantly using less power than an enclosed system. But this will take some work, and also, open systems aren't great at keeping the base pressurized. You end up having to distribute electrolyzers around the base or pump air around (in the latter case, why not just close it up) unfortunately i only play oni in survival mode so everything is a long process. So far i've found the most success in making systems that are as passive as possible. The less intervention for it to run just right at all times, no matter the consumption, seem just more stable. System with loads and loads of automation usually result in weird problems 100 cycles later. But then again systems not thought trough properly result in the same, if not worse. PhailRaptor
In my experience with "open" systems, simply planting 1 or 2 Wheezeworts immediately next to the Electrolyzer does a pretty great job of keeping a comfortable temperature in the base. But you have no specificity with that, and you are at the mercy of your expansion projects and how well you isolate "living space" from expansion projects, power plants, etc. It's also not a very efficient use of Wheezeworts, which for me recently, have been in short supply. Kind of like Briars. I have a great map seed right now that has 15(!) Briars, when normally I'm lucky to get 6ish. And i must confess i find about 15-20 in general. Some worts are hidden and others again are at the edge of the map. Lutzkhie
60?! i only got 30+ on 2 biomes, then i realized water cooling depends on your seed, sometimes with that amount of worts you can cool a large tank of water, sometimes you have to rely on machinery to cool water and stuff Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/87869-the-not-quite-self-powered-and-hopefully-100-kosher-air-conditioner/page/3/#findComment-1007130 Share on other sites
Roboson
Still messing around with improving it. Quick question though, I remember there being some sort of trick to get the best rario of hydrogen to oxygen. Anyone remember what that is? The trick is really just making sure the hydrogen has a place to go when it's produced. So, you want to pump out as much oxygen as you can and have the electrolyzer as close to the hydrogen layer as possible. That's where these designs came from with the tile lip which is typically to the left of the electrolyzer. This configuration usually produces the best results because the unit typically produces it's hydrogen at the top left tile and the oxygen at the top right tile. Liquid glitched electrolyzers will also produce the perfect ratio because, by design, they always dump hydrogen in one tile and oxygen in another tile, neither of which conflict with each other.
