There's not much use for clay right now, and this would be a good way to remedy that problem.  With clay and some water, an artsy dupe can create various items.  After creation the item would be picked up and placed in another location.  Possibilities include planter boxes, flower vases and miscellaneous art objects.  The first two would give a small decor bonus with the art objects giving a larger bonus (since it wouldn't provide extra utility).

The clay item needs to be baked to become ceramic item. (Baking clay to get ceramic already works.)

The plates could break at random interval. A dupe would automatically get a new plate if available and the plate would get assigned to his mess table - the table would become "mess table with plate".

With the current game mechanics the potter's wheel would be a workshop "refining" clay into pottery or something like this, which would be a needed material for high-quality mess tables but mostly art stuff.

Only artists may use the potter's wheel.

Give artist more reasons to exist! :D
Currently they decorate everything and then they are jobless doing delivery or tidy jobs...that's too realistic for me xD

edit: "pottery" might be a requisite for high quality foods thus you need artists in the late game.

Kiln that turns clay into brick that can be used as basic building material (maybe good decor bonus) seems reasonable.  Optional art objects for decor are good too (I'd skip the wheel and just have the artist work the Kiln directly), like an upgraded version of the current flower pot.
