Kabrute
smart batteries means you don't need 1:1 it means you need .9:1 or less and set the filter values on your smart battery to disconnect your power feed. You are trying to overcomplicate what has now been oversimplified. This should not be a hard principle. Batteries have constant discharge which is power wasted ergo as few as you can possibly get away with will have the least wasted power. Neotuck
Just now, The Plum Gate said: they did for a while... well there are two forms of loss, overproduction from generators and batteries. If there was a way to make a "perfect" power grid with 0 loss then this game would get boring real quick Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/87212-charging-your-large-batteries-to-full-with-smart-batteries/page/2/#findComment-1002948 Share on other sites

Steelflame
Ultimately, there is no reason to care about making excess batteries. Just make more gens, and have them power off when above X value of battery. You just have to match your peak consumption, and your lulls just result in generators turning off when the battery is above whatever you set as the standby threshhold, and should it drop below the "safe" value it just turns them all back on automatically. The extra generators themselves act as your battery, without the power waste. Saturnus
4 minutes ago, Neotuck said: If there was a way to make a "perfect" power grid with 0 loss then this game would get boring real quick I made power grids with zero loss before this update by having large battery banks and temperature inferred battery sensors. They were perfect, no loss power grids. Now I unfortunately can't avoid some loss but at least smart batteries helps to avoid as much as possible (if you use as few possible obviously).
