Dupe Problems, and a heated base.

Recommended Posts

So, I've been playing on the Occupational Update's early build for a bit, and I have to say, it's one of my favorite updates so far. (I've been playing since the Agriculture Update)

But I noticed that, recently, we've gone back to the 1-9 priority. Was there a bug in the new method that they're fixing, or are we stuck with "everything I want done needs to be 9" again? I really liked dupes focusing on their individual jobs before doing whatever later on.

My next issue is the recent change to jobs, it's a bit unclear how the + to stats work. Do they gain said stats upon mastering their job, or do they gain the stat when they take up the work? Also, a Sous Chef and a Head Chef both gain the exact same stats and abilities (Using the Electric Grill), so why bother upgrading to the next level if the only change is higher food and decor expectations?

My final Duplicant issue is their sleep schedule. This one is more of just something I noticed, than a complaint.

While watching my dupes get ready for their day, I noticed that the early bird dupes wake up a bit earlier than the others, not by much, but enough that I think it's really cool. They actually are early birds. However, I noticed some of my dupes sleeping in, but there's no trait to explain that. Is it a bug, or have they not named a new trait that some dupes are being born with?

And, in unrelated news, I still have my complaints about heat. I can manage a base if I scramble for Wheezewort as fast as I can, but if I can't find any, my crops are doomed! Can't the hydro fan cool things a bit better?

My only suggestion would be to surround the starting area in Abysalite, in order to keep the heat from the other biomes out, seeing as though ice biomes are never going to spawn nearby, anymore.

Thank you all for hearing out my thoughts.

As to the sleep thing, I have noticed that dupes who get to bed late (because they had to run back to base, or were busy eating or something) or who get up during the night will then sleep in a bit.  It seems like they have a minimum level of sleep they require

Yeah learning not to 9 everything is probably the biggest learning phase I had.in the game but once you do (with door management) things are really smooth.

I did notice that some dupes are sleeping in a bit but really only when they are not in a room considered a barrack and that they go to sleep reeaaallll late. I guess that stamina needs to go back to 100% before they wake up but i didn't track it. Did someone track it ? sleeping in a bed, in a barrack gives 700% stamina if I remember correctly. Now the dupes don't go over 100% but I assume that it makes them "recharge" faster which can help.

Currently duplicants gain skill experience when performing a task no matter what their job is. So if your architect is digger he will gain dig xp.

About the heat check that thread: X

I agree that the 1-5* priority system waw better. Not only in terms of efficiency and control but it just felt right.

Klei could easily merge the two systems and make everyone happy. Make a 1-9* system where you can set your own default priority. This way you can play with the normal 1-9 system by setting your default priority on strict 5, and you can play the 1-9* job priority system by setting it on soft 5.
