It looks like a small path to a other map. The map is totally discovered by the console, as well I think I can't go far away but it's interesting. Wherever Ruins or Points of Interest Spawn they destroy whatever is in their path. So abysallite and Neutronium layers are usually destroyed and or replaced with the relevant Point of interests materials. Similar to prison architect 3d mode, it has been in the game all along, we simply didnt stumble over it. Until now! Maybe all of us have been neighbours inside of the same asteroid the entire time.
