Anyone else has problems finding geysers?

Recommended Posts

Ever since the Oil upgrade I simply can't find any geysers at all on the maps that I play. I created 7-10 worlds and reached to 50-150 cycles and no geysers in sight. No steam no gas no nothing...Anyone else has the same issue or were they just removed from the game?

It's not that they removed them totally, but they fixed the spawn number. I had an old pre-oil map that had 6 natural gas geysers and 4 steam geysers, but now even if I go into debug mode I only ever see at most 2 of each type of geyser. and as MidnightSteam mentioned if they spawn in bad areas you may never see them.

Well if it was only that then I'd see at least 1 in 8 maps. I mean previously I played it was 5 geysers per map in the agriculture/microbe update but they were relatively close to your starting position. Now they just disappeared, I have not found any geysers at all for so long it's ridiculous.

You've got a Steam geyser close to your base on the bottom left which I think you already saw. The Natural gas geysers, however, are quite far. The other steam geyser is also towards the edge of the map. Let me know if you want exact locations.

Thank you.

I will see if I can find the one to the bottom left. I definitely didn't see so far but I'll look around.

- Found it. Thanks again.

My last game it took my 167 cycles to find water geysers.  Just the way I ended up exploring map it was in the last corner outer edge and both were with 5 tiles of each other.  I did not have it flowing until 200 cycles.

It was actually fun as I had to manage base carefully and was always digging any algae I found as I explored (I ran on zero electrolyzers until I had the water).

I find a lot of spaces with vacuum in it and a little bit of water, it looks just like the spots where a geyser would be but there's no geyser just the small circle of vacuum with minimal blots of water.

This is a feature of the swamp biome - a relic of what were once points where steam geysers would spawn.

In a more recent upgrade (OutBreak I believe) Klei changed geyser spawns to always spawn atleast one geyser in the surrounding biomes of the starting area.

Maybe. But after genning some 70 maps while modding RWG I found nothing suggesting this to be consistent. More often it appears to be completely random to the point that pois lack world edge boundary checking when being inserted and occasionally spawn 'on the fence' as it were. And to top that off, they can sometime spawn on top of each other thus overwriting some of the tiles. I think I filed a bug on this some time back...

Geysers are all prefabs just like points of interest. There are two natural gas and two steam/water geysers - one of each will spawn in both swamp and jungle. One chlorine geyser will spawn in jungle ( the purple biome ) ...total of 5.

There were 6 unique oil well pois last I checked, this the max, they should all spawn in but occasionally a couple don't...obvioisly they're in the oil biome.

Or they do not spawn at all, I have posted this before, several times I have dug out the entire biome and had none, so there is unfortunately no minimum limit XD

Actually, I prefer a close by chlorine geyser to a close by gas geyser. Let's me get out into the swamp sooner. In this spawn (Automation Upgrade) I got steam almost immediately, I took 100ish cycles to find a chlorine, 300ish to get the ice biome, and at 358 I still haven't seen a trace of the gas!
