EstebanLB
Mess tables asignation is a waste of space, not all duplicants eat at the same time and they eat quickly, like toilet and shower. Having a small dinning room area would make much more sense. Like a 1:2 ratio or 1:3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/79443-mess-trables-should-not-be-asignable/ Share on other sites
enterflux
I can agree with this. It's not something that's ever really become an issue for me, but I agree it's kind of a waste of space. I've only got maybe 3 dupes at a time eating, but I have to have tables for all 10. Lumina
Maybe the purpose is, since table aren't needed and help with stress, you choose to use some space to have less stress. Both have a logic. Kasuha
Maybe the original idea was that dupes would eat at certain time just like they sleep. Except it doesn't quite work with food shortage and a dupe that misses lunch won't just get a bit stressed. I still like the idea of them eating together. It would be cool. But if that doesn't happen, then table assignments don't make sense. avilmask
Yep. And medical beds (including capsules), too. Well, I guess dupes don't know they should be healing until you assign them to their beds, but it would be much simplier if they could go and heal automatically if beds aren't assigned. Sometime you DO want to assign dupes to beds because they can pollute O2 around them, but it would be better if you could assign diseases, not persons. brummbar7
I think the mess table assignments serves more as a simple space requirement problem. Requiring that you dedicate more space for dupes' dining needs. And, if you're doing it right, this also requires more artwork. They only take 1 tile, it doesn't seem like that much of a burden to me. If you need a logic for it, just pretend they are very particular about the cutlery, and the kind of the chair, and the condiments they keep in a drawer in the table. Do you mean just make it so they would automatically use them like the massage tables? Once I assign a dupe to my medical station, they're automatically unassigned after they're completely healed. LeadfootSlim
I'd be down for communal tables at tier 1, and much nicer personal tables as a tier 2. However, I wouldn't object to the current setup if I didn't have to spam Mona Duplisas across the dining room. They get so repetitive... They get so repetitive... I mean, you don't *have* to do it. It's just the most efficient thing in the current scheme. It seems reasonable to assume they might give us more variation in graphics later, and probably more skill levels, given that the top statue right now is 'mediocre'. And honestly what we have right now IS communal. I'm wondering if we'll eventually have EVEN BETTER dining furniture that takes even more room per dupe. Maybe some dupes will demand a coffee machine by their dining table, others a plant. Or a TV, or a radio. Will they start to demand their own rooms and suites? Chest of drawers? Couch? Recliner? Pet 'Cat' and tower? The game has honestly only scratched the surface. What you're looking at right now may be the very basic level, and you'll later look back on it fondly as such a simple and compact time. n37runn3r
It's nice to be able to assign the flatulent to their own area away from the other tables so stink doesn't affect the stress of other people who are eating.
