CarlenWhite
So I've played a bit of ONI to notice and acknowledge that you can cool down gasses to freezing (which, if you pump into your colony's air system, will not bother your dupes) so I'm curious if it's possible to get a bunch of ration boxes into a cold room and preserve food assuming if the food acknowledges the temperature of the space it's in. Czeraphine
You can technically create a room which has such a low temperature that it creates solids upon release. Though, I'm not entirely sure if food reacts to temperature. I don't even know how much food reacts to spoilage rate ate all, I haven't had food spoil on me even once in my 40 hours of gameplay. If you happen to go through the science of finding out, A+ to you!
clamjam
In the tooltip for food, there is a bullet point where it will say whether it is refrigerated or not. If you mouse over "unrefrigerated" it will tell you the temperature where the food will spoil. For example, meal lice will begin to spoil in temperatures above 277.2 K. Vilda
Temperature transfer seems to be wonky right now. I built a farming pot standing on abysslite and it still was overheated. And despite my 127 degree batteries are standing in water, steam is generated way too slow.

Here is a pic for my set up. I believed that currently heat transfer is not on so pipes, walls and water can't absorb heat from high temperature object like batteries. As you can see in this image, though the air and the batteries are over 100 degree, the pipe and contaminated water are still 20 degree.

It's a temperature insulator, sadly not a freezing agent. I guess 30% of players make the same mistake, assuming that abyssalite makes a great cooling material. Only to find the harsh truth - as of now there is only one way to cool down gases (thermoregulator). As for the solids - well, you could pump cold gas (say O2) into the room and wait for a loooong time. But I will agree that in some places temperature transfer is weird. Hmm, that would be useful to know indeed. Would be nice if game let me build an insulation out of it, but did not find any use for it yet.

Jeez, meal lice begins to spoil at 4.05 degrees C. Gotta freeze it just to preserve it? lol An easy way to cool down a room is to attach a thermal regulator (the one that cools down gasses), attached to a pump inside of the room. Cycle the gas from the room, through the thermo, then output right back out into the room. To make it more efficient, put pipes absolutely everywhere you can see space only after it has passed through the thermo. The pipes will make the room cold as long as cold gas goes through it. Be warned though! Once the gas gets too cold, it turns solid
