Start: Dark

Can you elaborate? Do you have to only set the 'Start' option to Dark, or something else as well? I used Start: Dark, World size: Huge and Caves: Huge and night time was basically very short every day, even though I got to day 7 during autumn.

Why are Maxwell's lights not there, though? Was this like changed when Klei thought "oh, multiplayer's gonna be hella easier", but then it was never looked back at again?

Maxwell light's were structures that when close would emit a permant light and they were a tall marble pilliar with a flame on top and if you went to far away from the light they would turn off. they are in DS adventure mode and the main light source in the epilogue chapter where you meet maxwell. Maxwell himself created these lights hence the name

They were structures that were in the single player adventure mode (chapter 5 darkness) that illuminated when you got close, the devs however said they removed them from the game since they were unneeded in multiplayer since there is no adventure mode.
