To devs: You should give bug reporting instructions BEFORE releasing

Recommended Posts

Mostly self-explanatory. There should be a subforum for bug reporting that provides either an example post or general information on good bug reporting practice in order to encourage good reports, and it should be made before the game can be purchased for "testing". Some examples of useful information might be:

- Log file and save file locations

- An example post with sections (severity, description, actions to repeat)

- Links to useful tools for recording (in case the bug is hardware specific)

- A list of known or frequently reported bugs

- A list of things that are in fact not bugs

A subforum for feedback would also be good, in order to separate everything out for easy reading.

Alternatively, a bug/feedback tracker would go a long way to making bug squashing easier and faster.

Bugtracker subforum is pretty much mandatory. They can keep lists of known bugs and guidelines on how to report new ones. Well, unless they plan to outsource it to steamcommunity discussions if it's steam-only atm.

I'm sure Klei will provide all that once the game is released, JoeW already said he prefers to only add things when they're needed, so they'll be added probably today after 10 AM PST :)
