Spyro1 Posted January 26, 2017 Share Posted January 26, 2017 As you might know green gems are used for making construction/decinstruction staffs and amulets. The use of which allows one to make pretty much any non renewable resource renewable by crafting half price then deconstructing at full value. As such this makes green gems arguably one of the most valuable resources in the game as it has the power of making every other valuable resource easily renewable. Anyways i m curious to know what are the best green gem farming methods? I have heard someone say catcoons can gift them if befriended but im not sure what the drop rate is? Another method i have heard mentioned is farming tumble weeds however this method is unattractive to me as it sounds like a boring grind due to the very low drop rate % the other method is by farming dragonfly which seems a little tough for me and my gf to consistently do as i play wendy (not too great for combat) and my gf as wx. So there is a great deal of preparation that goes into killing dragonfly for us. The most obvious method is minimg thulecite statues however this is not renewable as eventually they will run out. so what do you think is the best method of getting green gems? What is fastest/easiest and are there any other methods i dont know about? Currently we have around 140 gunpowder but we saving that for toadstool. But as far as mining in ruins is concerned that is great and all but eventually it will run out. So my main focus is renewable sources. And toadstool drop is not too important, it has nothing to "farm", just maybe killing it once for personal accomplishment, but I think you can do a way better use of that gunpowder you already have. Or light the gunpowder while im chopping the mushroom that spawns him so that as he spawns he gets hit by it? I just want to kill it for the blue prints and stuff. Or simply dealing damage to toadstool? Also how does one help while avoiding the mass of eye plants that you put down? I never did it, but I understood that devs tried to make toadstool inmune to the sleep + gunpowder strat used to kill other bosses. Being toadstool a one time thing and dragonfly a boss you want to farm almost once a year for green gems, I think using the gunpowder for the second and looking for another strat for toadstool sounds better for me. For all the reasons I said I would use it to farm green gems, which is what you need right now and it works 100% sure. Gunpowder is to kill anything but toadstool. Rily Posted January 26, 2017 Share Posted January 26, 2017 I don't know about green gem farming, killing the dragonfly is not eficient because drops just one or two and needs a cooldown, tumbleweeds are not good either, you may fill lots of chests with grass, twigs and trinkets before get a green gem, the festive tree could be the best but you will get lots of hats, I never got a green gem from those, only orange and yellow ones, so, I don't know how rare are green gems on festive trees. I think the best method is cleaning the ruins completely and save all the green gems, then use construction amulets to make deconstruction staves.In the singleplayer you can quit the game and back to reset the color of the gems in the statues but as you may notice almost all those quit and back glotches doesn't work in together. I saw in the wiki that the statues can change the color of their gems during the nightmare fase, I'm not sure if this works on together but that could be another way to get more green gems breaking the statues just only if the gem is green, if not come back later. After all dfly only spawn every 20 days so you have like 19 days in between to do stuff. May as well just farm the tumbleweeds. Catcoons doesn't give green gem.
