Should the way pets are obtained be changed?

Doesn't mean it should be a focus however. But I disagree with @TheKingofSquirrels . Smallbirds are trash. They take some effort(which mind you is not creative, don't praise it as if hatching an egg and then not letting the baby die is any more creative than critters coming from a cave), give you a slight gain and then become an adult hostile tallbird which means they have 0 positive effects in the end and are better off eaten. Now, Pets don't even have that tiny little benefit a smallbird does. Making it so you have to do something like a Smallbird for them would make each of them useless and tedious more than they're worth.

Oh definitely, I like skins as much as the next guy but if you offer me, idk, a new boss over 10 different coloured shoelace skins. I'd take the boss. But as it stands, new skins and new content have reached a balance where I'm perfectly  okay with either.

I like skins as long as they're sprinkled on top of an actual icecream, aka in game content. The better the flavour, the happier the customer. And the sprinkles obviously add to that, but you don't exactly want them to be so much more than the icecream, right?

You can quite easily farm a ton of feathers and morsels with smallbirds by faking attacks on birds with ranged weapons.

Is it worth the hatching rather than eating it and just killing birds in one of the many other efficient ways?

When the update came out, I thought that pets would be obtained via stealing them or something like that. Like, catch a Houndling via a trap with monster meat, and they would rework the smallbird for make it not suck and make all viable by some way, like how they adult versions act.
