Been trying to figure out how is the affinty unlocked. Seems like you need to be hit and hit back in order for it to tag you in.

All i know that i let some guy know commands for damage increase and he oneshot fuelweaver that granted him no affinity but when he decreased multiplier to 4 shot him and got hit himself once in the process he got the affinity. 

So in conclusion affinity gain could be triggered these ways:
1. Get aggro of the boss before it dies.
2. Deal damage that won't kill the boss yet. (1 shotting is lethal ofc).
3. Affinty gain tag must be put onto you by you getting hit by the boss.

I don't know how to look into  code to learn what is truth.
