Meneervis Posted March 22, 2016 Share Posted March 22, 2016 I decided to try out caves for the first time with Webber, Webber was a nice character with Chester so I could lure the spiders out and feed them. (spiders do not attack Chester if they're befriended) I thought Webber wasn't hard to use at all although people say that Webber is a bad character in Caves. Schluck Posted March 22, 2016 Share Posted March 22, 2016 I haven't done much in the caves myself, but I hear that for prolonged spelunking expeditions, WX-78 is one of the best because his spoilage resistance allows him to eat things like a spoiled jerky and still get full hunger, health, and sanity benefits. Plus he also has the ability of getting 400 Health, 300 Sanity, and 200 Hunger when fully upgraded. Serph Posted March 22, 2016 Share Posted March 22, 2016 Wendy is argueably the best cave explorer because her perks sinergize perfectly (25% less sanity drain and Abigail permanent 40 AoE dmg are amazing). Of course every character can go caves fine but she has Wendy requires the amount of effort/grind. Muttbutt Posted March 22, 2016 Share Posted March 22, 2016 Maxwell is probably the best for ruins and caves in general due to his sanity regen beats out the drain the dark in the caves do, and there's no need to carry around sanity clothes or foods like cactus. His health is kind of a pain, but as long as you have a football helmet or shellmet, you should be okay. Mrs. Wickerbottom has a higher sanity pool, allowing longer spelunking sessions without tam'op'shanter. Her science boost also means that she can make a lantern more easily. Additionally, her Sleepy and Tentacles books are very useful against the ruins boss.
