werlpolf
Hey guys, first to Klei: Awesome game! I enjoy playing it. Great that the caves, ruins came to DST. Currently, skins cannot be reduced of a player, except he/she is gifting them away. The suggestion to merge low-level clothes to higher ones reminds me on other games like diablo, where you are getting in some way addicted to collect more and more. In DST this means - playing longer to get good clothes. But how about to permanently lose our clothes - for example in case we die. Maybe we don't lose all clothes or we can mark some of our skins as favorites, that these ones will not get removed from our collections (but some will always). If only the favorites are left, they are going to be removed next - maybe one skin /cloth per death. Only the skins will be removed, which are being worn. If you not wearing something and die, you won't lose anything. Positives: 1. Perma-death gets again higher value in this game. 2. The wardrobe has a real function: for example you are going to dress differently before the deerclops arrives, you going to ruins or like to take down the dragon fly. In late and stable game you are going to wear your better clothes. 3. Your collection can be reduced, without addictive hunting of clothes (playing dozens of hours this game and merging them into better ones). Instead you take care more to stay alive. 4. Rare clothes stay rare and that get's accepted. That's it. Its just obvious, that we are going to get toooo many skins. One problem with that would be, when people log off from the server just right before they die by giant, starving, darkness... But this is also a problem in pvp or in just surviving ((re-)joining brings light, heat) Another suggestion: Maybe pre-select the skin of the backpack. Currently we all need to change every time the skin from standard to our favorite. Happened a lot, that I forget to change it. Happy new year in the next day!!! Auth
What. Though in all seriousness, this is like saying when you die in TF2 you lose your unusual hat if it's on, which makes you never want to wear it. I mean, I've died from random meteors or 400 depth worms suddenly appearing, where's planning around that? werlpolf
Ohh, come on.... If you never wear them, then you get more and more and in some time you start to think: "Why not wearing them for at least a short time (until you die) then NEVER?" And to balance your sadness out, Klei can increase the amount of gifts per time or/and increase the chance to get rare skins, too. Though in all seriousness, this is like saying when you die in TF2 you lose your unusual hat if it's on, which makes you never want to wear it. I mean, I've died from random meteors or 400 depth worms suddenly appearing, where's planning around that? That's what I mean with Perma-death. It makes the gameplay more interesting. And maybe there can be a timeout implemented: After you die, you ve 2 minutes time to get resurrected without losing any clothes. This makes also team-playing more fun. EDIT: About the planning (imaging they are in the ruins and replace Neo with your favorite skin-name!!!) Auth
>Die in ruins, respawn on surface>die anywhere, someone takes your clothes>wilderness mode>no way to revive And i dont wear my crappy clothes simply because... i dont want to look crappy! And remember, cosmetics are an addition, not tue premise of the game. Unlike TF2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/61615-skins-clothes-lose-them-on-death/#findComment-703896 Share on other sites
werlpolf
My intention is only about, that we get too much skins in our collections, which we are maybe even not interested in or will never use them. Gifting them away just moves the same problem to another player. There must be a way not only to get skins, but also to lose skins. >Die in ruins, respawn on surface >die anywhere, someone takes your clothes no one should be able to take the clothes of others. A player's skin/cloth just get removed from his/her collection >wilderness mode >no way to revive maybe there can be an option to flag servers, weather they are 'fun-' or 'ranked-'servers. fun servers enables you to use your clothes, but you cannot lose your clothes and get new clothes as gift. ranked servers need to be unmodded and has the danger to lose skins. Anyway, I personally wouldn't ve a problem to lose a skin by getting killed in wilderness mode or if other player's can loot some or one skin from other players. It's a choice on which kind of server you like to play. And i dont wear my crappy clothes simply because... i dont want to look crappy! Therefore you can trade. Some player would like your crappy clothes - maybe because of a cloth-set... And remember, cosmetics are an addition, not tue premise of the game. If you represent this statement, then why you are so sensitive in losing skins??? Anyway, it's just an idea. If you like to get 100 skins in the collection, then you are just fine in the current situation. But in some day, you get 101, 110, 200, 500 skins. ..... Auth
Let's leave it at this. Just dump all your unwanted drops on someone. Other than that, nobody is going to ever want to wear their good drops.
