[Poll] What mods do people want?

Recommended Posts

well, idk if this idea were a bit something, but i think it would be awesome if there's something like scuba diving mods that only could be used around shallow water

and maybe some spear gun for easier catching fish (that boat net are cool but not with only could be used once)

and how about water farm?lols i know the water plant are only brain tree and seaweed, but maybe other guys could figure out some edible water (sea) plant...and maybe planting coral

oh,and something about tree monster,i didn't think that jungle tree had one...or maybe i haven't met one

Since it's Early Access I've been putting most of my ideas out there as suggestions for actual gameplay changes, rather than wanting them to be mods. Mods are for stuff that a handful of people would like but most of the playerbase wouldn't, moving the overall difficulty level up or down in ways that aren't covered by worldgen customization, major departures from normal gameplay or themes, or anything Klei seems unlikely to budge on.

Having said that: I want a mod that brings Chester to the island. (And maybe Glommer.) This might become possible in the unmodded game once there's a way to pass between the two locations, depending on how it works exactly.

Maybe a mod to allow swimming in shallow water, if the reason that's not a thing is more to do with it being too much trouble to implement because they'd have to rework the 'invisible fence' boundary around islands or give it its own set of animations when all or most of the art assets are done already.

Both of these mods haven't been updated for SW

Smarter Crock Pot

Tell Me About Health

When manually enabling them with shipwrecked_compatible = true, it makes the Ship Equipment Icons disappaer.

So not sure what else can be done except for a mod overhaul.

But the Health mod would be really, really useful.

That health info mod is quite userful, i like knowing how much damage i'm doing or how much it'll take to kill the mob,

Actually, this mod seems to work.  I was looking at a different mod before.

Considering this would never be in the base game, but would still be really fun to just see: Molotov cocktails.

We're got the bottles. We've got the cloth. And, for all intense and purposes, let's say anti-venom is combustible.

Let's see how Prime Apes feel about bottled fire!  :willow:

The coconade essentially already does this

Great suggestions!

@ryesoul, scuba diving or anything involving the player being in the water themselves is not feasible for modders, as it would require access to the player animation pipeline, and artistic skills. Mussel Sticks are already a kind of water farm, but I see what you mean. What would such a farm look like? A Jungle Tree Monster is a great idea, it will be a fun project.

@CameoAppearance, I think it's likely that Chester would be transferable. I've already made a mod that allows travelling between the worlds, but I'm not sure if Chester and Glommer will follow, I haven't tested it. If not, I'll certainly add it. How would Chester follow you though? In regards to swimming, see above.

@toastmasta, I probably shouldn't mess with other peoples mods without permission. I'm sure they'll get around to it.

@HeatherKan, like a Coconade? :p

What do you have in mind?

@Worthington, I love the idea. What specifically would they do, just set a large region on fire, or what?

These are all good ideas, and I think I'll compile them into a collective tweaks mod, with each feature disableable. (I don't think that is a real word.)

Of course, everyone will be credited for their ideas, and any valuable input. I am still open to more suggestions, if anyone has any.

I think it could work a little like the coconade, but immediately set things on fire once it's thrown (and maybe a little bonus damage for hitting it directly?) You can stack them (up to 10) and also throw them at things that are in the ocean, but obviously, if it's a fish that submerges, like the whales, the fire will be put out once it does.

That's all just off the top of my head, though.  :indecisiveness:

Personally, I want to have old biomes and old stuff  from main game (including RoG) In SW.

Give us back old winter + wind and ice dropping for hurricane, Giants are big enough to cross ocean and chase player.

Some random sinkholes for caves (normal old caves)

Basically, I want an SW world where I don't need a portal back to RoG world, since everything in one place.

But it probably will requre lost of work in world generation files, so It's not up to you, I will guess.

This integrated worldgen idea is intriguing, but direct RoG compatibility is not possible right now. A central island with base game worldgen could work, but this would be a large undertaking, especially with the new worldgen code for Shipwrecked. Perhaps if I have spare time.

Something that allows vastly quicker chopping of bamboo, much like the Scythe mod does with grass and twigs. Making it harder to make initially would be fine, it's really only something I badly want in later game.

The obsidian machete hacks hackables in 3 hits.

some ideas:

obsidian pig houses... cannot be destroyed by high winds like normal houses.  possibly they could spawn two pigs instead of one as an added bonus.

sea walls and/or piers that can be built out onto the water... sea walls to corral/cage sea mobs.  piers could also function as wall but you can walk out onto them.  would allow harvesting certain ocean materials on foot or even creating bridges between islands.  could be damaged/destroyed by mobs, waves (this would limit them to shallow waters only), strong winds, and volcano, so would require a lot of upkeep & repairs.  this would allow for some super cool giant island bases though.

cargo boat allows for friendly passengers (or possibly a new boat type)... friendly pigs/spiders/monkeys/etc can ride in the cargo boat, but they take 1 or 2 of the cargo slots.

boat torpedo... alternative to the boat cannon.  attack is weaker, but torpedoes lock on and follow target

attack boat... new boat with an additional attachment slot.  lamp slot for lamps only.  two more slots for sail & weapon.  can equip sail & weapon (cannon or torpedoes) or two weapons (but not two sails).

Compaion Boat that lets you carry a few familiars with you(like 6 spiders, 3 boars, etc.) and is essentially a cargo boat for friends.

Maybe it'll even be an attachment to the cargo boat/other boats that is there solely to carry companions.

Mangrove Seeds to plant Mangroves.

My first suggestion would be that we dont get as much as damage on boats from killing sea hounds. We cant even kite properly yet and its annoying that I have to go kill bees everytime a shark chases my boat.

New boat types would also be cool like a fishing boat with a trawl net which has durability, instead of making new one everytime. And you know, real life fishing boats do have giants freezers to keep the fish fresh, maybe the boat's storage could be like an icebox. Or a motorboat/speed boat which has a speed boast but is more vulnerable to big waves. Still, itd be useful for doing daily work and going to closer islands. Though I don't know if this is clever since there already is a cloth sail. A viking or pirate boat which are strong to waves and enemy attacks would also be really cool.

And my last suggestion is, perhaps you could make a new food mod with recipes such like coconut cocktail and fruit salad. Maybe add a pineapple plant as a new food.

A Fishman that could swim and breath underwater and fish wouldn't run away from him

He could also befriend swordfish

And he would lose sanity from killing and eating fish and if he stays on land to long he will dry out and start to die
