(I don't see why it wouldn't. Unless they're deep sleepers or something.)

Tiresias's hand moved up to meet the shadowy claw around his throat, and grimaced. He tried to gasp in air, but, being the old and relatively weak and frail man that he was, found little success. It was all he could do to return Mistaria's glare.

(Correct. At least for Mina.)

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, Mina was no stranger to ambushes in the night and was thus more easily startled by sudden noises. She shot up with a gasp, eyes wide and skin starting to sheen with sweat, apparently having been awoken from a nightmare. She looked around frantically with dagger in hand before spotting a shadowy figure with a murderous holding up the old man. Taking no time to ask questions, she charged at the intruder at high speeds ready to cut him into ribbons.

Without so much as looking at Mina, Mistaria snapped a finger. A shadowy claw rose up, grabbed Mina by the throat, and lifted her off her feet, choking her as well.

"FOOLISH OLD MAN..........Do you really think we haven't prepared for this eventuality?!"

The shadow claw holding Mina threw her a long distance. After a moment, both Mistaria and Tiresias were consumed by a dark cloud of shadows, and disappeared entirely.

Alex stirred just in time to see the cloud of smoke. He frowned, and looked as Mina was flung away. "What... The hell."

Tiresias struggled, and glanced down at the hand holding his neck. He traced a shaky circle on it before poking it. The hand simply seemed to slowly fade out of existence, and he gasped in a breath. "How..." He sputtered weakly, "Did you expect me to answer a question... With that around my throat?"

(Knowing what's going on is great for situations like this.)

He slowly stands, not making a single sound; then he stalks away into the darkness.  He heads a considerable distance from the camp, then stops.

Mina gagged and gurgled as the shadow hand held her off the ground by her neck. A memory flashed in front of her eyes; a blurry male figure hoisting a much smaller and younger her off the ground like she was nothing but a rag-doll. The shadow hand flung her into the darkness, and she flew some distance before ramming headlong into a tree trunk, and she went limp.

"What made you think i'd let you get away with interfering with Our plans, old man? I should GUT YOU.........but.....as it turns out, I have other appointments already......so i'll let you off easy. Stay away from Lefay and the others, or you'll quickly find yourself dead."

Mistaria closed his eyes, sending a message to Vilsig.

"<I will be with you shortly...>"

Lefay stirred, and awoke with a start, a fresh set of memories returning to her. Her family, a group of ne'er do well hobos.....or gypsies.....they always hated her interest in the arcane......the arcane......something was still missing.

"W...what.....happened?...."

Tiresias gazed at Mistaria, then grinned widely. "I knew you'd say that." He took a breath, composing himself. "But I suppose I should count myself lucky." He mused silently as he noticed Mistaria close his eyes, presumable communicating with someone. 'So he came to me... That certainly makes going to him a lot easier.' He kept these thoughts to himself, however, and watched Mistaria carefully.

"Do not mistake my mercy for weakness. I will keep an eye on you as well. Keep your distance from Lefay and the others if you value your own existence."

Mistaria vanished from Tiresias's sight and reappeared next to Vilsig.

"Is this important, Vilsig?...."

Tiresias closed his eyes, lost in thought. He didn't quite feel the need to leave the strange dark void that he resided in quite yet. It was certainly unwise to take another swing at Lefay right after what had just happened - he didn't need infinite knowledge to know what MIstaria would do to him then. He'd just wait for Vilsig to be done talking, and then he'd start the backup plan.

Alex scurried over to where Mina faceplanted against a tree, shaking her by the shoulder in order to wake her. "Hey! Mina! You alright?"

(Wait, I thought Mina was thrown out of the light range of the fire... Ah whatever. We'll just say Alex brought a torch with him.)

Mina doesn't respond. A quick examination proves she's still alive and breathing, and though there is no blood it looks like she hit her head pretty hard. It seems like she'll be out for a while.

(Yes that is what he did everyone knows rock people glow in the dark yup yup)

Alex nodded. "I'll get her arms, you get her legs." He held the torch he was carrying (YES HE WAS CARRYING IT WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT) in his mouth, keeping the flame as far from his face as he could, then hoisted Mina's upper body by the arms.

(Okay, Corthias will temporarily be a heavy sleeper because I need her to set someone on fire in her dream because I missed the chance to wake her up.)

-------

Blurry. That was all that she could remember; it was like walking through a freshly painted canvas, the colors watered down and dry.

Eventually, she heard creaking; Corthias turned around, and was greeted by a small mannequin, the size of a child. The mannequin is fairly typical, made of sturdy wood with rusted spring joints. The face was slashed.

Corthias saw the candle in her right hand slide out of her palm, pulling out several veins and tendons, and touched itself to the forehead of the mannequin. The fire consumed the face of the mannequin, spewing sparks and flames, like sadistic fireworks; the smell of burning flesh filled the room.

She reached out to the head of the mannequin, and the world turned bright as the sparks ran up her arm towards her eyes, searing herself.

-------

Corthias woke with a start and, mumbling, sat upwards; her hair was in her eyes, and she didn't quite adjust yet to the transition from dreams to reality.

"Hm? Yes, what happened?"

She enunciated her words perfectly, despite being tired and having just woken up.

(Also I decided to change her font to something more appropriate.)

"Ugh... wh-what the... hell?" L slowly woke up, he set his umbrella by his side and rubbed his eyes.

"Guys... it's still dark out, what's happ--" Just before finishing that sentence, he got a grip of what was going on, albeit a short one, and quickly shook his head and got to his right senses.

"Wh-- what the heck happened??" He asked worried, seeing Alex and Lefay carrying Mina towards the fire.

"The Door to the Adventure. Whoever goes through the doors, survives King Maxwell's machinations, and makes it to the final chamber will gain access to the Nightmare Throne. To possess the throne is to control the Show............as for Tiresias, he is a dangerous old man, in spite of his frail condition. It would be extremely foolish to seek an audience with him."

(Urgh!  Plotline...too...unoriginal!)

(There better be some kind of twist to Adventure Mode.)
