"Yes, if something's hanging around in the darkness, I think it'd be better to stick close to the light."

-------------

"Good. I don't care much for hanging around this place in particular."

Kate stood at the very edge of the ring of light, as far as she could stand away from the fire without being in danger from the darkness. "Maybe they're right, Kate. We know what's in there; maybe it'd be better if we moved a LITTLE closer..." She squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head, refusing to budge and seeming obviously uncomfortable.

(Sorry to be nitpicky, but Kate never said her name.)

It wasn't very noticeable, but the air around Kate seemed warmer than the rest of the area. There was a long, tense pause before she decided to speak. "I......I don't like fire." she answered quietly.

"Oh.......I see...........but you should really have something to see by...........oh! I know."

Sirus took out a glowing yellow crystal orb and handed it to Kate. It was pleasantly warm, and emitted a generous light when held, without an obvious source of flame.

Kate held the orb, looking it over in awe. She looked to Sirus, obviously thankful, and gave a quick nod before moving a bit further into the darkness and away from the fire. Once at a satisfactory distance she set the orb down on the ground, untied the blanket from around her neck, and curled up under it next to the orb. Kade laid down on the opposite side. "That was really nice of him! Maybe you'll be able to sleep better tonight." He grinned at her. "Goodnight, Stinker." Kate yawned tiredly and rubbed one of her eyes. "Goodnight, Poo-Brain..." she mumbled, barely audible.

Vilsig finishes the fire, and steps back from the flames, receding into the edges of the light.  "So, generic looking man.  Do you know if there are any other villages?"  He asks casually.  "I don't think we'll be welcome back there, with the whole "house-destruction" thing..."

Tiresias looked at the group. "We should all get some rest. I would assume you're all exhausted, and we'll need our energy for tomorrow."

The generic man shrugged. "There's gotta be some. I'm not sure where they are, though. But yeah, I doubt you'll be allowed back." He glanced at Vilsig's distance from the fire. "What, you don't like the fire either?"

By this point Mina had helped herself to some of the food they had stored up. Appearing satisfied, she scooped up some of the grass she had gathered, dropped it into a little heap, and then used it as a pillow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kate fell asleep. Not much else to say.
L didn't need to think twice. He was always dead-tired come night. He laid down on the ground, holding his umbrella close to him and slept in a matter of minutes.
(Hooray for time-skips!)
Corthias was already asleep at this time. She was curled up, lying in the grass, clutching the book loosely as she lay her head upon it.
------------
She opened her eyes. She was sitting in a chair, a comfortable one set in the center of a rather expansive, and rather dark, plateau. It was lit only by a single candle, to her right. Corthias made a motion towards the candle, before she realized with a start that the candle was forcibly put into her right hand; the palm of her hand had a hole carved into it (rather crudely, given by the stitches that were holding random together), and the candle was sticking through it, held in place with wires. The flame glowed from the back of her hand, threateningly close to her own skin.
Corthias stood from the chair, and, holding her hand high, wandered the darkness.
------------
Corthias mumbled slightly in her sleep, loosening her grip on the tome.
(ach I need to sleep, ill finish this later when the time skip happens and she begins to wake up)
A small amount of time passed, and Tiresias was assured that everyone else was asleep. He looked around, his hands fumbling for a sharpened piece of flint. It would get the job done, he knew. He had spent months pondering what he would do once the situation arose; once she arrived, and even now he was not sure that it was the right thing to do. Not to mention that the chances of success were minimal. However, he had decided that the odd chance that he could kill her now was worth the attempt. At least he knew exactly who to go to if the worst occurred. He stood up and quietly moved towards Lefay's sleeping body, raised his arm, and lowered the flint upon her neck with all his might.
(Haha. Surprise!)
Before Tiresias could finish the attack, however, a shadowy claw reached up out of the ground, and grabbed his hand, squeezing with enough force to shatter the flint. A second one rose up and wrapped around his neck, squeezing tightly. Mistaria appeared behind him, more shadow claws rising up around the old man, keeping him from running away.
"AHA...........I DON'T THINK SO....."
The claws turned Tiresias around. As soon as Mistaria got a good look at the old man, he growled angrily, a seemingly murderous look in his eyes.
"YOU?................GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR........I think.....you and me.....are going to have a little TALK...."
