Is ShipWrecked Going To Be On Don`t Starve Together?

Recommended Posts

Nope not likely.  They had to change SOOOOO much to make Don't Starve to work for Together and even MORE SO for Reign of Giants to work.  Seeing as how Shipwrecked is a stand alone game there is NO WAY its coming to Together unless they make a 2nd stand alone game called Shipwrecked Together.  But no, don't EVER expect Shipwrecked content in Together.

That'd be a shame, though clearly the two games have some fundamental differences. The island biomes shouldn't be too hard to port, but the water... I've always felt that the water as used in DS and DST was very lackluster. (I remember being new to DS and trying to fish in the ocean with a fishing rod... perfectly intuitive no?)

With maps often being very fragmented, crossing water with a boat or a bridge has been suggested more than once. The water from Shipwrecked looked beautiful and really adds another dimension to the game for me. It's a huge leap in progress which I really really hope will come to DST.

In case anyone is confused, this is sarcasm, or definitely should be. I expect shipwrecked characters will be modded into DST 1 week after release, and the rest of the content shouldn't be hard either.

I was able to make single player modded characters work in DST back when it was way harder to do. DST has come a long way and is easier to port content into.

Not sarcasm in the least.  dead serious.  Its simple logic.  Also they didn't ask about mods they asked if the Shipwrecked would come to DST.  The answer to the question asked is NO, no shipwreck in Together.  Its not rocket science.

I don't think Klei's position is really that firm, or that it would take as much recoding as it did to add RoG content.

I don't see what the difference is if the content is added by mods or by devs. If the question is: "Will I be able to use shipwrecked content in DST?" the answer is yes.

How much of that content will be available, and in what timeframe, is less certain.

The problem with Shipwrecked is that it's a separately generated world and will not be compatible with the usual RoG content.

The biomes will be different and themed as an island hopping thing - you won't be finding the usual desert/caves/etc. At least not at first.

No,please no...They are trying to add in the caves, and now you want this?

They want to have differences between 2 games,so people will playing both of them, plus,it's hard to handle 3 worlds at the same time for a 4 people server

I had always thought it was going to be a World Option, like in Singleplayer, how you can turn RoG on or off, you could do the same with Shipwrecked.  Perhaps if they ever plan on adding it into Multiplayer, it could be a server option?  No RoG, but Shipwrecked world gen and additions.

Caves are also different and didn't integrated it with the upperworld. Same can happen also with shipwrecked-worlds: wormhole-like-access or tunnels between these worlds. They just need to make it multiplayer able like the caves - thats all

Another thing: The core of shipwhrecked is quite similar or same with the other worlds - just new prefabs, textures have been added or replaced with others.

EDIT and BTW:

Caves as multiplayer are still not out, but there are mods who adding them into the upperworld. When shipwhrecked gets out for single-player, maybe some very nice people find some time and add them, too for DST. I don't know the legal conditions. The only thing what Klei can fairly do, is to demand DST-players, who are using shipwhrecked content, to buy a DS-shipwhrecked license
