AbaShoppeR
perhaps this belongs in bug tracker but here goes, for some reason when i play on pc version RoG the world generation is always very similar.there is always a swamp surrounding a forest with rocks everywhere and a sinkholethere is always a deciduous forest which surrounds a plains that is at the end of a stone road, which contains a pig king and rocks everywhere with a sinkhole these two features are too large to be generated into every world in my opinion. if this is the way the game is intended to be generated then so be it, please do not change it per my request alone but i do not think when i play on ps4 the worlds generate in this way, so i assume this is a bug Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/57122-plz-tell-me-this-is-a-bug/ Share on other sites
Developer ImDaMisterL Posted August 17, 2015 Developer Share Posted August 17, 2015 I never played the console version, but maybe they simply changed the setpieces and the worldgen code in it? It certainly is not a bug, I don't think a bug is smart enough to do that. AbaShoppeR
do u have this world gen similarity among all your games as well?At first I thought some similarities were normal, for instance the ruins entrance always being surrounded by stalagmites, which I think is referenced in don't starve wiki, but it seems like this is too much similarity between each world. in ps4 version it was definitely more random. every world was entirely unique. I feel like the worlds now are almost all generating the same blocks of structures Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/57122-plz-tell-me-this-is-a-bug/#findComment-663953 Share on other sites

Auth
ill always find a road that leads to two pig villages, one on each side. that is too noticeable to miss. im sure this cant be how its supposed to be. It is. Each world is supposed to be like this. How is it a bad thing? You need these kinds of things in your world, they're necessary for some things. AbaShoppeR
ah so this is normal. i see. well its better if the world is randomly generated so that you have a unique experience each time. no one wants a cookie cutter world. only my opinion Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/57122-plz-tell-me-this-is-a-bug/#findComment-663983 Share on other sites
emerphish
The road happens in most worlds, but every RoG world I have played (I started to spell plaid) the worlds seem very dissimilar. You can try starting a few worlds and using the console command to reveal the map, then comparing it. There is a thread with the command here Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/57122-plz-tell-me-this-is-a-bug/#findComment-664214 Share on other sites
Quyzbuk
The swamp surrounding a small bit of forest with a sinkhole is a set piece that is pretty much a guarantee, the only differences will be how big and the shape of it. The other thing with the deciduous forest and the plains and such is just coincidence. JoeTheHamster
Not a bug I can tell you that. My suggestion would to be if you're not messing with world settings start changing some things up to how you like it and if you are, then try stopping. NoobModder
The world is randomly generated. It just contains a set number of objects that have to be generated. The world usually looks the same, due to the similarity of events and terrain, however if you are truly seeing the same world over and over, it is likely caused by a mod or tampering with system files. I suggest reinstalling don't starve if possible, if the problem cannot be avoided.
