Tip: If your internet sucks (like majority of the people playing DST) and you experience lag on the server, don't bother fighting.

At least, not directly. You have a bunch of other ways to kill, such as:

- Luring enemies into aggressive mobs (i.e. clockworks, tallbirds, tentacles, pigs, etc.)

- Playing as Wendy and letting Abigail destroy stuff for you (she's stronger at evening/night)

- Laying down a field of murderous tooth traps and bee mines! Cackle like a psychopath as oversized bees swarm over your foes and inject their poisons into the blood vessels of your enemies' eyeballs!

Each mob in the game has an attack period. You should learn this; it'll help with your kiting. Then, you can figure out how many attacks you can fit in before you have to run to avoid being hit. For example, you can hit a tallbird like 1 or 2 times before you have to run, but you can safely hit a koalefant at least 4 times before running. You'll learn it with some practice. Hope this helps!

Same as above for the ping: be careful, fight only if you need to.

I would suggest to use the following commands, never play only with your mouse. Move with "WASD" and exploit only one direction. Fight with "F".

For example, position the enemy on your left. Then dodge, by moving to the right, hit him when moving to the left, etc ... It may be easier to fight on only one axe, using only two keys to move.

Always let the enemy attack first. Let him miss you then hit him one time. If you feel like you can hit him more because he takes some time to attack you again, try to hit him twice next time. Every enemy has a fixed attack period so try to learn them (hounds 2 hit per attack, koalefant 6, etc)

How to Kite (the best way):

Step Juan.) Get out your weapon.

Step Too.) Find the enemy you want to kite.

Step Tree.) Hit the enemy.

Step Fore.) Keep hitting the enemy until he prepares to attack.

Step Five.) Run away, but come back (like a boomerang).

Step Six.) Profit.

Example:

Koalefants vs. Spears can take 4-5 hits before they attack again.

If you haven't already, try tuning movement prediction off.

Open the console with '~' and type: ThePlayer:EnableMovementPrediction(false)

If you like that better you can turn it off quasi-permanently by finding 'data/scripts/prefabs/player_common.lua' in your don't starve folder. On the fourth line is 'local USE_MOVEMENT_PREDICTION = true', change true to false and save it. Be aware that if there is an update there is a good chance the file will be reset, so you have to change it again. Also there are a couple mods that will keep it off permanently.

Other than that just learn the mob's attack patterns. Everything has a set attack timer and range, so if you know how many attacks you can get before you move you can kill almost anything without taking any damage.
