Since the spider queen update,pigs were attempted to be nerfed but that ended up going horrible since they could go extinct and that upset the players.It was removed through a hot fix but the problem still exits and that's hoarding meat and mass producing houses..Common suggestions that i have seen are:

-Prolong the respawn even longer till it's an unreliable food source.

-Only player made pig houses can be exhausted.

This is all for now.post your suggestion and i'll post the main idea and your name.

-(JujuBomber) Reduce meat and pig skin drop rate.

Oh no not that.I already knew i'm just posting so that we can have another way of limiting the meat hoarding.

Limiting the meat hoarding eh? I don't know if this idea will help or not, but what if you have to kill the pigs a certain way to get the meat? Maybe a new weapon with a really low durability (1-2 uses,) uses loads of resources, uses rare resources as well? While it is an idea to try reducing the hoarding, I think its also a pretty dumb idea as well.

70% - Nothing

15% - Meat

15% - Pig Skin

Yeah, that sounds better than my first idea.

Reducing their spawn rate will still allow us to make Pig Houses where we want and get Pig Skins but it won't be as effective for getting food. Both desired outcomes are met. Tallbirds give 2 meat and they respawn in a day, they all need a longer respawn timer.

Yeah, that sounds better than my first idea.

This is something i had in mind for spiders too, to reduce monster meat abuse. Simply stop mobs dropping an item 100% of the time.

- 25% Monster Meat

- 25% Silk

- 50% Nothing

^ Same could be applied to Pigmen.

Although dice rolls tend to be bullshit sometimes so maybe up those to 33% each.

They need to find some way to reign in the monster meat drops in my opinion. Since this update I have been getting ridonkulous amounts of monster meat and I keep turning them into honeyed hams with my crock pot. So many hams.

I agree, my game has turned into "Don't Overeat"

After a certain amount of Pigs slaughtered by the Player's hand make them all hostile towards you until you give some serious offering to the Pig King. Pigs also should be unwilling to follow the Player if too many of them died that way (to avoid luring them into monsters). There are possibilities, just don't make Pigs a finite resource to avoid abuse. Instead make the game more interesting and challenging.

I get so very few pig-skin drops that the cost of actively harvesting pigs makes the prospect pointless. Maybe one-in ten pigs I kill gives me a pig-skin to make a pig house with. Couple that with pig houses deteriorating now and there doesn't seem any point to harvesting pigs as food. The only time I bother to kill them at this point is to get what I need for a meat effigy.
