Woodie would keep his inventory when transforming.

Well, he's got a point... but the penalties of having drop all your stuff and others get to steal them is kinda steep for just the transformation to werebeaver thing...

We could just make his werebeaver form more powerful... an extreme pro for an extreme con...

Well think about it. If you know it's coming, you can go out to a spot in the woods and make like, a hidden chest or something. Drop your stuff in. Even in the solo player you have to plan a little bit to make sure you're not screwed when you turn back human, insane, weak, and hungry.

  • Label him as a monster when he's a beaver which would make it possible to attack him(another way to get greifers down if possible)

Haha, I've actually had an idea for late game Woodie play ages ago, where you could possibly make an amulet to TEMPORARILY stop the transformations. The downside being it would be expensive and cost you a great deal of sanity to keep it from happening, and if removed at a bad time(in the chopping high or middle of full moon) could force a transformation.

Dude if he's not labeled a monster I'll be disappointed! Low sanity aura ftw...he's supposed to be scary! Sorta!

Also I think that amulet idea sounds cool, maybe as a mod though. I kind of like the idea of it being involuntary and uncontrollable.

OK

I like the amulet idea. It solves the multiplayer issue, and it can be set as an item only Woodie can make; "Lucy thinks I should wear this." (She's always the one that's trying to keep you from chopping down too many trees. Makes sense that she'd probably encourage you to wear something that would help you.)

Given the changes to the sleeping mechanics of Don't Starve, I just don't see how you could easily sleep through the full moon (especially if it was during a very long winter night). What if something decided to attack as you were sleeping (Deerclops rolls in, stomps on everything)?

Woodie will be very difficult player to add to DST. I agree that Lucy shouldn't be able to be picked up by anyone but Woodie. Otherwise it would be OP being able to chop wood super fast without risk of werebeavering. As for werebeaver state, I definitely see it as a potential griefing tool. Maybe add a feature so that other players can force him back to Woodie state? This would encourage more cooperation and allow players to stop a rampaging griefer in their tracks. You could also make it fit into the lore; a character gives Woodie a good slap and says something like "Get a grip!"

I definitely like the idea of leaving your inventory in a locked container, but I think it should only be able to be opened  by the Woodie who dropped it.

Also, to everyone suggesting a device for measuring the moon phase, you do realize it's right there on the clock, don't you?

sorry it's long

The amulet I feel would be interesting and also helpful for Woodie players who, especially in RoG settings, are needing to help friends complete things. You need to build up a base you need to have things accomplished. You could live as a beaver for as long as trees lasted because once you eat that last tree and pine cone and all of the non-renewable resources, you're done. Plus it's not very fun staying as a beaver for long periods of time.

There have been numerous suggestions of Woodie maybe just waking up instantly after the transformation or being in a sleep state and invulnerable to everything until the next day, a set amount of time, or until the player wakes the character up. In DS when you revert back to normal you can wind up "dying" mid fight and turn back and still continue to be attacked but since you are in a middle state you are invulnerable and unable to take damage or penalties until you are roused and playing him again.

In ways, yes Woodie can be difficult for DST but he is also simple and quick to get on his feet more so than other characters making him a go to guy to help with tasks. So in a sense he actually is easy, but there are always flaws. As for Lucy, I can't see her not being picked up by others but maybe a penalty of her even being in your inventory could be established so you just give up holding her and Woodie can take her back, eg. Large sanity drain, hunger drain, monster attraction, etc.

I can completely agree that as soon as Woodie is implemented he will become the next big griefing tool in the game. Unlike any other character, the beaver takes no penalties from weather and moves much quicker than anyone else so he will become a walking wall of destruction in short time.

That being said a "slap" would never be something to stop a character. Because even as a human, the griefer could simply take whatever you have on their low stats and use it all up before leaving. If a slap could stop the griefer boy would that be heaven. But I do think it an interesting idea, just implausible.

Honestly if a sleep dart or pan flute worked against him to make the beaver pass out for set time it could give you time to stop them, look over damage, get the name and ban them from the server.(That's how me and my friends typically end griefers sessions because they are defenseless against a pan flute)

I can't really see so much of a locked container because it seems a bit inconvenient to the fact that this is a slightly competitive survival game. Although I would love for that to be a thing it's highly unlikely. Possibility for a personal character case that you can use to store certain items, limited on space but it can only be opened and stored by you and no one else can look inside. A work around being something like a key so that way if it's public you don't just have locked items everywhere and no one ever coming back for them. :B

The moon phase is finicky. The waxing and waning pictures of the cycle are exactly the same and sometimes you'll forget which phase you were just in, or you just came in late, and you don;t know if you're going to a new moon or full moon. I more or less just want to have the waxing and waning images look like such and not be the same exact images so you can tell where the cycle is heading.
