[Suggestion] Button to reset camera rotation to default

Recommended Posts

So, in many servers the talk with someone that just got in the server for the first time is like the following:

GoodPlayerOrGrieferWeDontKnowYet: Hi

Host: sup

GoodPlayerOrGrieferWeDontKnowYet: Where is the main camp?

Host: North from your location

But at this time, the player probably already rotated the screen a bunch of times (atleast if he is like me), and as so, don't know anymore where is the North. So why we don't have a button below the map icon to reset to the default camera rotation?

That, or add a compass to all characters starting inventory (finally a use for it!!)

I make a habit to never change my camera orientation, but when I do I change it right back. One thing I do too is look at the map before hand and memorize how the original orientation should look on the map then I'm free to rotate no matter how much I want but still be able to revert my orientation to default once I need to give someone directions. These things I've said however doesn't fix the issue, it merely makes it less difficult, for me anyway.

Another thing you could do is leave a compass at spawn, and that would help newcomers reorient themselves.

I do agree there should be a button for default north.

However if there was such a thing as a "default orientation" button, the compass item would need to be reinvented for a new purpose. Maybe using the action "give compass" to a different player would combine both recipient and giver's map information/discoveries. What do you guys think about that?

There is a compas, but it's pretty much a waste of resources... XD

I'm torn. On one hand, in multiplayer, it would be really useful to quickly find your friends and not waste time.
On the other hand, there is the whole "danger of getting lost and disoriented in the woods" aspect that would be lost.
Maybe an optional mod would be the answer?
