The beam of light pierces the darkness, revealing various rocks and pieces of bone along the ground. Lying next to a skeleton, however, was a torch. Will runs out, and grabs it. He runs back into the light.

"Well, ad least we can be more mobile now. We need to find as much grass and twigs as possible. Let's move."

Shining the light in the darkness, the group travels around, listening for a signal from the radio. Other than their footsteps, all is silent.

"This is awful... I feel like we're going to run out of power any second."

The group finds a lone tuft a grass, some logs, and another torch after an hour of searching for a signal.

"Ugh, why is this taking so long? Usually we get something right about now."

Almost on cue, a pool of light bursts from a stone brazier. Much like the campfire from before, this fire is fueled by the group's presence.

"Oh, let there be light."

The group gathers around the black fire, which is somehow producing light.

"These things give me the creeps. There's tons of them in the throne room. So maybe we are in the right place."

Will sticks his hand into the fire, and lets it sit there for a moment. He pulls it out, but nothing happened to it.

"These fires are designed to only emit light energy, and nothing else. There is no heat being emitted. We can't cook anything with these. Well, is everyone ready to.... move..."

Will's sentence trails off, as he stares at the ground. The group's shadows are missing.

"We need to go now."

Will lights his torch, and the group's shadows return. Violet holds the radio, which continues to only emit low frequency tones. The group walks out of their permanent light, as it goes out from a lack of a attention. The group hears slight whispers that grow faint as they move away from the Night Light.

"What was happening back there?"

"I don't know, but in the dark, you can never be too careful."

Finally, the radio raises in pitch.

"Oh my god, finally! We are in the right place! Thank god."

The group picks up the pace as they run in the direction the radio is signaling them.

"You're right. This is the easy part. Once we're done with this, we have to make our way to the throne. Best case is that Bale is still in the Society's HQ and not there yet. But if he is on his way to Maxwell, we'll have to fight him. Plus, if he's already on his way, he'll have left some challenges for us."

Will looks slightly offended and opens his mouth, but Violet interrupts him.

"No, they're the people who are trying to permanently stop Them and rescue everyone in this realm. And the only line of defense in between Bael and the Thrown. And Will happens to be a member of them. So, in other words they are the exact opposite of what you guessed."

The Radio is beeping wildly at this point.

"White, use the flashlight to search around for the piece. We don't want to pass by it up on accident."

"Simple. Because he is killing everyone inside."

Will's voice grows shaky, as his eyes well up in tears.

"He's killing my friends. Every. Single. One of them. Violet and I were spared from his destruction, but almost no one else. This demon will try to kill us at every opportunity, regardless of who you are. If we run into him on the way to the throne, one of us will die, and it can't be me. If I die, we're all fucked. I'm the only one with the possibility of being able to absorb him when we defeat him to gain his powers, which I will use with the throne's to send us back in time before this happened. You will all finally be free from this place, however. You might not remember anything that happened after where we go back. To you, Joseph and Violet, it'll seem like you were sent back to your world after we killed Shadowfall. White, Jayden, you'll have never been approached by Maxwell. That is as far as I can go back."

The radio peaks in frequency.

"Oh, crap! We're right next to it, so keep an-"

Will is cut off as he is knocked to the ground as a shaded figure barrels through him. The radio begins to rapidly decrease in frequency.

"****! That thing has the piece! Get it!"

Will throws his torch to Violet, pulls out his extra, and draws his dagger. He sprints after the figure, leaving the group in the dust.

"DON'T FOLLOW ME! IT'S BAEL!"

Whites face was grim. She imagined if her friends and family were being killed, and she was trapped here, unable to help or do anything, not even say goodbye. No one saw, but her had quickly rubbed her eyes trying to hold back tears. Then that thing ran by, and Will chased after it. She stood there in a daze, processing what had just happened, before gripping the flashlight and running after. There was no way she was leaving him, or anyone else for that matter, alone with Bael.

Will chased the figure in black, whom was in his sights.

"GET BACK HERE!"

The figure stopped, not turning around. Will leaped forward, but the figure sidestepped. Will rolled to his feet quickly, and rushed at the figure with his dagger. The figure quickly dodged all of Will's attacks, and smashed the lever piece into Will's side. Will coughed up blood, as he fell to his knees. He tightened the grip on his dagger, and rolled over his shoulder. He held his dagger in his right hand, and his chest in the other. The figure stepped closer, revealing to Will who he was chasing was, in fact, not Bael. It was a somewhat familiar man in a long, black, leather long coat. His face was covered by a gold opera mask. He swung the lever around, as if it where a pipe.

"Who are you!? What are you doing for Bael!?"

The man smirked, letting out a soft chuckle. He rushed at Will, but Will barely sidestepped in time. Will extends his dagger into a sword, and slashes at the man. It leaves a cut in his coat, but does no damage. The rest of the group catch up with the two, and Violet sprints forward. She draws her rapier and jumps into the air. She swings her sword down, but the man kart wheels out of the way. He attaches the lever piece to his belt, and points his fingers at Violet. Will's eyes widen as he realizes who the man is.

"VIOLET! RUN!"

White, plastic strings speed out of the man's gloves toward Violet. She ducks, but they turn around in mid air behind her, and rush toward her legs. She rolls out of the way, as the strings stop just before her ankles. The strings retract into the man's gloves.

"Don't let those strings touch you, or you'll be under his control!"

The man breaks out of the ice, and dodges to the right. Violet runs forward, and slashes sideways. The blade rips into the man's coat, but no damage is done. Sparks fly off of the man.

"Damn it, he must have some sort of armor beneath his clothing! Violet, your rapier isn't going to do anything! Take my sword!"

Will tosses his sword to Violet, who catches it. She sheathes her rapier. She takes a few swings at the air to get used to the weight.

"Thanks!"

Will limps out of the fray, and looks through his bag. The man turns to Jayden, and stares at him for a moment.

"You share my power. Take advantage of it."

The man drops the lever, and retreats into the darkness. The audible lighting of a torch can be heard far in the distance.

"I know who that was. He's one of Bael's minions, which must be why I felt Bael's presence. He is not a real man, but a machine. Bael probably made another after I destroyed the last one."

Will turns to Jayden.

"Don't listen to what he has to say. Your powers will become useful later, so don't turn against us. I understand you just met us, but we can get you out of here."
