How do YOU play?

Just curious to see if there are any other people like me out there...

Games with complex crafting schemes (IE minecraft) I usually have the wiki by my side 100% of the time but in a game like this it feels like cheating IMHO. I haven't even looked around for a wiki, absolutely no interest in it. I like the challenge of figuring out new ways to survive... I don't even look at "How do I" or "Experiments with [x]" threads.. I want to be on my own!

So... how do YOU survive?

I usually see what the word on the forum is after an update then jump right in. For day to day gameplay? I don't need no wiki.

When i first got the game, and when everything was new to me, i made it a point to avoid all spoilers/helpful hints to make sure i could discover everything on my own. I enjoy not knowing whether or not eating handful of berries might poison me and end up killing me!

when I was brand spanking new I avoided all information like the plague, didnt even show up on these forums. but now that i'm more experienced with the game i dont mind coming to the forums, still not going to the wiki though.

i play the farmer joe strategy with 10 turbo farms.

I jump in without any guidance and see how it goes. Every new play is a new learning experience, be it harsh and with some new dangers.

I read the forums for info about the new changes made in updates. Then I say "thats cool, let's see how this new content will aid/hamper my quest to not starve" and go play the game. I like to know what is in store, and then try to find my way of dealing with it.

You know, just hit a spider couple of spider nests, burn down my only pig village, try to hug the hounds,go around in the darkness so that i can relief my bladder in peace! That's how REAL MEN play don't starve!

I also farm food, then take 3 stacks of berries and go exploring, my meat effigies will savve me if somethhing goes wrong.
