Can we have a witch's hat?

Recommended Posts

What would be the reason for it existing?

One day Wilson/Willow/Wendy etc etc was looking around the forest and was snacking on some berries.

"Hmm" they wondered. "I could really use a hat." So they sat down on the forest floor and had a quick think.

"I want a hat that says I'm playful but leave me alone." At just that moment after they thought to themselves aloud a pig wearing a top hat walked past.

"No, a top hat won't do; a top hat screams come talk to me to ask about why I have a top hat." And so they shouted at the pig to get lost. After a minute, a bunny man, fresh from an morning spelunk in a cave wearing a garland hopped toward them.

"A garland won't do; it's got the playful aspect down but I'm not a fan of wearing flowers that will be decaying on my head." And so they shouted at the rabbit to go back down their hole, and our hero had another think. As if by some incredible plot device to extend the story, a merm appeared wearing for some reason a beefalo hat.

"No" said our hero and they walked away, combat with the merm was not the point of the story.

"Where can I find the hat I want?!" They cried to the sky in angst. Due to their frustration, they chucked a handful of rocks in the sky that killed, as luck would have it, five crow, dropping five black feathers each. Suddenly, an idea popped into our heroes head. "I know the hat I want!"

So they grabbed the feathers, ran back to camp and did whatever they do that makes the science machine expel a recipe and they made a classic witch's hat.

"This hat says I'm a fun person, but that doesn't mean I want a conversation with you; it's perfect!"

And so our hero was contented for about an hour until they realised that winter was approaching and a winter hat would be appropriate as this hat offered no thermal insulation.

The End.

You can hear more stories like this from MycoLogical's Big Book of Don't Starve Tales; where ever mediocre books are sold.

Hmmm... In all honesty, I don't like it. I reckon it should be kept in the modding realm.

That said, IF it was added, I'd have to agree with Boar Head on his/her higher sanity cost idea. Seeing that it's related to the magic, wearing it should ALSO lower sanity, akin to shadow items (dark sword and armour, for example).
