In the recipe wooden wall includes boards and not the log. Boards but not the logs! So why is the wall of logs? Look at the picture above, there is a log and not the board. Can I get an explanation on this issue? I believe that the recipe for a very stupid and unrealistic. It saddens.

It's less about being realistic about the components of a recipe and more about the balance in gathering the components needed.

Although the recipe would work out the same mathematically (8 logs/1 rope vs. 2 boards/3 grass, I imagine the devs made it a bit more complicated so you would have a challenge through the stages of progression.

For instance, you can build a limited number of things without needing any machines... lets call that stage 1. In stage 2, you can build the same things of course, but to progress to further crafting, you need a science machine. In stage 3, you can build everything from 1 & 2, but you need an alchemy engine to progress further crafting. Etc. etc.

Wood walls require materials that are more advanced crafting (stage 2) than simply wood and grass (stage 1). It's not about the looks, although that's nice aesthetically, it's about the progression. IRL, you would need to form materials in stage 1 o a certain degree (shaping, height, width, weaving, etc) to advance them into stage 2. They're not created that way naturally, but instead, manipulated into what they become.  In Don't Starve, these degrees are the same... only you manipulate them via machines, The more machines you craft, the more stages you can advance.

Doh, of course. I completely forgot about that whole other reason. Thanks.
