nik96rus
I do not know English enough to write without an interpreter, so sorry for the mistakes.I have three questions about Don't Starve.First:Why not have all kinds of rubble(cobblestone) own texture on the map? Second:I created the world. I did not turn it right or left. I created a compass, but it shows the north-east. Why can not the north? I thought that the compass needs to know how the world was located originally. It would be logical to think that the compass should show the north, so why it shows the north-east? I do not understand something? The last:Why does not the razor has a strength. All other tools are its durability but no razor. Battal
The compass shows your original orientation, not north or south. The razor, I have no idea. I don't understand what you are saying with the rocks Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/31152-three-of-my-questions/#findComment-408386 Share on other sites
jbeetle
The compass shows your original orientation, not north or south. The razor, I have no idea. I don't understand what you are saying with the rocks He's saying the rocks, despite their contents, all look the same on the map. and I have to say the reason for that is probably for a couple of reasons. 1. It's less work. I assume they try to reuse assets whenever possible. 2. Originally there weren't different types of rocks and I guess they never changed it. 3. Smaller file size. LadyD
Perhaps because the two are very alike in their content? I guess the map gets a little crowded with details if everything had its own texture. As for the razor it never did have a strength. Mostly I guess because it only really has two uses- shaving wilson and shaving beefalo. Its just one of those things that hasn't changed from beta all the way through. HoneyHam
I can't help you much on those questions except the compass. The compass shows what direction your camera is facing, I believe the original orientation is "North-east." If you were to turn your camera it may say "North-west." Not 100% sure though. Or maybe it just tells you what the original orientation was no matter what way you're facing like Battal said. Guest
Off-topic: Battal used the face? Someone call a news station. On-topic: 1: I'm not really sure why. That would be a nice touch though 2: When you turn the camera around and face the screen, it shows what direction Wilson is looking to. 3: The razor isn't used that much, so it doesn't really need a durability. Tumalu
Razor isn't an equippable item, and is used fairly uncommonly- there's not much of a point in it having durability. Amkar
Razor isn't an equippable item, and is used fairly uncommonly- there's not much of a point in it having durability. Wouldn't that mean it SHOULD have durability? So it's not wasting space in my chest, like it always ends up doing? MilleniumCount
I asked why initially compass shows on the north-east rather than north?Perhaps to sho that the Don't Starve World isn't exactly like the normal world and even a device which is based on something as basical as direction and magnetism isn't behaving as usual? Also Evil and Freemasonry have something in the North East http://www.masonicdictionary.com/northeast.htmlHAIL ERIS! ALL HAIL DISCORDIA! Oh wait, we're still being serious and not using super-ultra-Freemason-society allusions here? I do not know English enough to write without an interpreter, so sorry for the mistakes.I have three questions about Don't Starve.First:Why not have all kinds of rubble(cobblestone) own texture on the map?2014-01-25_00002.jpg2014-01-25_00003.jpg Second:I created the world. All other tools are its durability but no razor. I will also answer your questions 3: The looks of the world are like it is a play with (two-dimensional) stage props. This includes the rocks and their "simple textures." The game allows you to rotate the screen to see things better. Since any rotated position becomes the "new up," the compass was made so you could return to your original or chosen facing by clicking it to see what direction your "original orientation" or "facing" is in. Whatever direction you rotate to face "up," it will list that direction on the clicked compass. It tells you what direction or "facing" you are in at any time by using it. So if you rotated the world to have "Southeast" facing "up" when clicking on the compass, it then lists that direction. Honestly, most people keep the world in its "starting" orientation, and rotate it clockwise/counter-clockwise to see something better/place structures more cleanly, then return the original facing. Thus, the compass became "useless" pretty fast. Most weapons and items have a percentage "durability" (when used as a weapon or repair item.) Since the razor only shaves Wilson or Beefalo, and it's pretty infrequently used, this is why the razor has no "durability."
