Would that even work?

Recommended Posts

So...

On the Polish Terraria forum I made a topic introducing around 500 players to Don't Starve, now it has over 1650 replies, everyone says how freaking pro I am for surviving over 450 days, but I am really ashamed to say, I didn't even get to the third adventrue mode level, this thing is so freaking hard.

So I figured out a way to do it, I'll play as WX-78, and get to The Game is Afoot world, and then to chess biome, this way I can start with 400 health, 300 sanity and 200 hunger, but it's not all, to the next world, I would bring Umbrella and three stacks of gears, eating gears no matter when, heals like a Deerclops Eye without sanity penalty, even giving 50 sanity back.

So there are few questions from me:

A)Will I keep his upgrades advancing to the next world?

B)Will I keep his upgrades after I revive on touchstone?

C)Does the gear eating work on Adventure Mode?

I think he's the easiest character to start with for adventure mode. At least with him we can go all the way to the end, get familiar with the worlds and not have to worry about hunger/sanity.

By world 5 I ended up with 40 gears, darkness world became way too easy. No need to farm jerky, no need to bring silk along to the next world for sanity items, no need to even worry about lightning.

But I don't know how you can get 3 stacks of gears though. And maybe bring a walking stick and a stack of pig skin along would be also helpful? (pig skin instead of umbrella so you can make loads of football helmet and pig houses too)

Gears fill up three stats compared to food/healing/sanity of one item-stat for another character. it's unofficially why people suggest to play WX in AM, the OP "solution."

But I didn't remember how many gears you get totally in Afoot.

Even so, I wouldn't go beyond 2 stacks, a walking cane and maybe something else of your choice from Gold to a Krampus sack and all other rarity in between.

You really don't have to worry about the umbrella once you made one as only fighting with it depletes it. Even so, when at max stats, it's not a big deal with the health/sanity. You can skip it if you wish. Even "A Cold Reception" gives you ample time before it's an issue (and if not your first world, you can easily get resources and craft another.)

i did exactly what your talking about, 1 stack of gears, 1 of pigskin, 1 miner hat and 1 tam o' shanter throughout all worlds it's really easy to lick adv mode w/o even using a touchstone like this, spent under 10 days in every world after that, cause your pretty much set for a blitz to the end. umbrella is a wasted slot after a few upgrades btw

I usually go with 1 full stack of gears(because more is overkill really), the miner hat, a full stack of fireflies, and the walking stick. this assures that you WILL make it to the end in a quick and almost painless adventure.

The only thing I'm sad is that you dont get to keep the upgrades you have in survival mode if you decide to entire Adventure mode...
