By chance, would you have an example mod with this running for me to try this out in game?

Up and Away. You can get a zipped clone of our mod's repository through the link https://github.com/debugman18/UpAndAway/archive/master.zip.

So I tried out your mod.  It's really cool though chasing 18 bird tracks took quite a while :-).  I didn't have any problems with.  Do you have any more info as to how to reproduce the problem so I can take a look at what's going on?

It seems to happen every time when default dirtpiles from hunter component are updated, when default hunter component is placing new dirtpile all of my custom dirtpiles vanish. There is no error message or anything, so I can't track this bug.

Maybe it can be caused by other mods that edit forest prefab?

I'm using other mods but none of them is related to dirtpiles.

I tired to run the game with only hunter mod installed and dirtpiles also vanished. Directly after update it was working fine for me that's why I uploaded it into workshop, but now when I tried to play the game the vanishing started again.

List of mods I use:

Krampuschant

Hunter

Ghosts and Graves

Slurper Herd

Birdcage

Map Settings

Now no one reported vanishing dirtpiles on Hunter mod page, so problem may be in combinations of mods I'm using, but it also happened with only Hunter mod enabled and without any error message so I can't fix it. When dirtpiles vanish and you reload the game they appear where they was before, but its quite annoying to save/reload every few tracks.

Next strange thing is that nightlight flame is missing again, as a result spirit torch is not working in Ghosts and Graves mod.

Again directly after update nightlight was working as always, but now its flame is missing again, I debug spawned it without any mods and there was no flame, and again no error message so I can't fix anything. That was also reported by a player that is using this mod.

Last thing its when I debug spawn some custom prefab I get error when I try to exit the game:

lua_close took 0.02 seconds Manager - ORPHANED UNKNOWN RESOURCES:../mods/workshop-175365111/images/inventoryimages/ectoplasm.xml - 1Assert failure 'mTextureHandle == INVALID_RESOURCE_HANDLE' at ..\source\game\render\Atlas.cpp(25): Trace follows...

Someone reported vanishing walls while using my Gate Wall mod that is here on the forums, its not updated cause of no collsion with walls bug reported some time ago.

Now I have 3 mods that are not working for unknown reason, all 3 with vanishing custom or default game prefabs.

Thanks!  The more info you can give me, the easier it will be for me to track it down.  What version of the game do you run and on what platform?

Steam Windows, Moderatly Friendly version.

Also there is one preson that has vanishing dirtpiles and animal tracks here:

the animal tracks always seem to disappear before I can find the animal

If it's the same "vanishing texture" bug that I think it is, it happens very reliably with the fairy in my Link mod.

While you're running about, she will randomly vanish. And she seems to always disappear when night sets in.

This should be fixed in the next update.  You should be able to test this in the public preview that's released tomorrow( Tuesday ) afternoon.

So I wasn't able to reproduce your problem but we have fixed a problem with disappearing textures in the latest update.  The public preview should be available sometime tomorrow afternoon.  Let me know if that fixes your problem and if not, I'll work with you to figure out a way to get it to happen on my machine.

Thanks for your patience.

And how do I jump up into the cloud world? :-)

DebugSpawn "beanstalk"
Then just climb it by clicking on it (it's hooked to the activatable component). Alternatively, use the command @debugman18 posted. ClimbTo(h,n) will send you to the level of "height" h in cave number n (so h=1 sends you to the cloud world, h=-1 to the first cave level, h=-2 to the ruins and h=0 to the surface).

So I don't get any kind of performance problems with the mod on both my work pc and my home pc.   I know from reading the 'Up and Away' forums that it seems like more than one person is having problems with this.  He was saying that the performance problems acted like stutters and went away after a bit.  The stutters which settle would imply that you might be running low on video memory but that doesn't really fit considering the size of the textures in question.  Would it be possible for you to try the mod with 4x4 level textures?  That would somewhat confirm my guess.  In the mean time, we have a pc at work which we use as our min spec test machine.  I'll get the mod running on that and see if I can reproduce the problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I asked in the U&A Testing thread if someone could run this test (I'm currently away from a PC able to run Don't Starve). But I'm not sure if lack of VMEM would be the culprit, since my PC has a 2.5GB video card, DDR5.

The issue often takes some time to "wind up". That's why I wrongly assumed it had been fixed when the compression format was changed from DXT5 to DXT1. But once it starts, it persists across save reloading/closing the game. The stutter is very periodic, happening every 3-4 seconds. There doesn't seem to be any random variance at all in its period.

And it's 100% certainly tied to using the level textures?

And it's 100% certainly tied to using the level textures?

from what I can tell yes, I've been testing with and without disabling custom textures and the problem only seems to occur with custom textures enabled

I normally see the issue arise at roughly days 5-10 (if entering the cloud realm at day 1)

And it's 100% certainly tied to using the level textures?

As @Craig_Perry (our official tester) said, this certainly seems to be the case. And since it's been a while I added an option for toggling the use of custom ground types, I think both scenarios have been quite tested by now, so I don't suppose we're wrong on the stutter's cause.

So I haven't been able to reproduce the problem but we've been fixing quite a few stuttering bugs which might help with this issue.  These changes will be part of the public preview as of sometime this afternoon.  I'd be curious to see if these fixes help out with your problem.

Dirtpiles and nighlight flame seems to work correctly on beta build, hope it will stay like this.

I haven't seen the fairy disappear yet, either.

It seems the curse of the vanishing textures has been lifted. =3

I'm glad to hear it :).

Hi,

I have recently created a translation mod for Don't Starve to Spanish. Now, I have a problem with the last update (Six Feet Under). The problem is, that some spanish symbols and letters (accents & Ñ) are showed like a Xbox360 joypad buttons.

I want to know if I must have to replace those symbols with the "normal" letters or I'll have to wait for Klei to do some fix or something about it.

I would really apreciate that Klei could do something so my translation would be a clean language.

Sorry about the trouble.  This probably has to do with the new gamepad support added in the new patch.  Could you please point me to your mod so I can take a look at what's going on?

Thanks!

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
