Will there be a two-year hiatus before the next arc, or won't there be another arc at all?

The "Return of Them" arc concluded on May 5, 2021, and the "From Beyond" arc began on April 27, 2023. This arc is coming to an end soon. A hiatus of two years or more before the next arc would be a good opportunity for other types of updates. Will DST get a new arc, or just standalone updates with a focus on DSE?

I honestly don’t see the game getting any new substantial arc after this one. After the shadow conclusion and skill trees I think the game is in a pretty finished state and they will probably just focus on fleshing out what already exists or adding onto things without starting anything too crazy.

Yeahh if there is another arc, it'd probably be a rather short one, to tie up loose ends and have an all-encompassing finale or something.

Honestly it feels like it'd be difficult for them to reach a really satisfying conclusion with just one more story step. The late game hazards kinda have two major progress milestones after rifts.

So like.... Its possible we end on a cliffhanger where we do something and our actions are continued in the next game. Think like how previously the end of the game used to be we opened that portal that let the gorge and the forge happens. Technically we do something and whats just like a little hole on our screens an entire extra game in the series happening.

Its entirely possible after elsewheres done we still get spit back out here and something new happens. Its just weird to me that there would be only one major plot milestone or two major plot milestones in both shards before we wrap it up and say "Yep definitely no more post rift storyline happening here."  Just having this huge arg of a progression system to happen and then everything disappears just as it gets started seems weird to me.

The princess is in another castle just sounds like an odd way to go, even if it lets them sell another game.

Please no more arcs.... This one was more than enough. Really hoping they hyperfixate and focus on fleshing out outdated mechanics and items so they're all up to date with newer content. Oh and skill trees, before I'm 30 please.

With how the devs all have been talking about this arc during streams and in update posts, and this being the last big major story arc themed update, and the launch of an entirely new game, I feel like things are actually coming to a close.
Them mentioning they want to move back to polishing older updates and giving older skill trees another look is what solidifies it for me. That seems like "We're done with the story, we're going into game upkeep mode" talk to me.

You know,  I swear there was a time a few years back where we were told scrappy wasn't the end of the daywalker storyline.
If we end it all here I suppose that means daywalker elsewhere confirmed?

If the focus is of future content is to update older items it’s always bugged the heck out of me that to restore the durability on a lantern can take 7-8 lightbulbs when it starts getting low, but to craft an entirely brand new 100% durability lantern you only need 2.

Healing Salve and Slimy Healing Salve heal the player for the exact same amount of health points and the item only stacks to 40 for both, but Slimy Salve requires the original salve in its crafting recipe, this should be buffed by increasing the amount of health recovered, or by allowing the superior salve to stack to 60-80.
