I'm guessing you didn't read the later parts of the post?

I did. We also thought that the DST wouldn't cannibalize the solo game. That's why we can be concerned. You can't know about the future, so for those who don't want this to happen, all we have is hope.

Going forward, lore is going to cover overall “Don’t Starve” lore and not just DST. We’re going to continue interactive lore stories, Intermissions and update trailers.

...Does this mean there's a chance of shorts with the singleplayer exclusive characters like Wheeler and Woodlegs and so on?

Thank you to the development team for their efforts over the years:love_heart:.
Waiting for the next update will always be a bit boring. I think maybe you can add some interesting small challenges for players? For example, constructing a world similar to DS adventure mode levels. It only needs to utilize existing content and make some modifications, but it is easy to attract players to try.
For example, constructing a world entirely composed of labyrinth, with players' birthpoints scattered in various corners, possessing some initial resources, obtaining new resources by searching treasure chests, and searching for clearance items within the vast maze. Of course, there is also the possibility of encountering danger ..
There are many such things, such as the desert that is always summer, the world of islands, and the mushtree forest caves where earthquakes occur frequently Create new challenges by modifying some mechanisms and maps. It doesn't need to be particularly concerned about balance, but this kind of thing is really refreshing.

I remember the last time someone did a favour for you 🙄🙄🙄

I feel as though many of the fans are honsestly hoping that DST losses support after the last few skill trees and elsewhere takes its place from online forums and my personal talks so I'd kind of hope that would be the case

also is DSE going to have skill trees from the first game or different ones or none at all?

Are Frostjaw and the Werepigs forced to be on every poster for their appeal or is it bait that there will be an update regarding them? Its funny regardless that I think that Werepig is in a lot of DST promotional material now at least.

Limiting to 1/2 skill trees per update is a sad but better choice for the longevity of skill trees. Often the three character skill tree updates will have one or two of them get overshadowed by the presence/popularity of the other skilltree/character.

Curious how the "midgame updates" are going to be handled as the lack of presence of them was a real dividing force in the community back then and a part of the game deemed most lacking. It is almost surreal to hear that they are (probably) going to be implemented now. I always assumed raid bosses (who sit in one place), ocean content (far away from mainland) and rift content (unlocked only by walkthrough readers) were a way to artificially implement difficulty outside of the gameplay cycle because Klei was afraid of the backlash difficulty would bring for new players. I am (hopefully) optimistic for what's to come if it does happen, and I urge that you aren't afraid of rebalancing content latter down the line, whether buffs or nerfs, for content depending on player feedback.

- Retouching previous updates
Because of our constant update schedule, we’re often more focused on finishing up and moving to the next thing. We want to go back and see what we can do for previous updates to address balance, older skill updates, and bug fixes.

I hope that Wilson will get something nice, like the goggles on the image, they really fit him well.

Oh, wait, if you're no longer just doing DST lore dose that mean we might see some Shipwrecked and Hamlet lore, i know we may never see them continued or updated but it would be nice to see what the other characters in those DLCs have been up to.

Oh man, I've really missed having a proper roadmap!
With the Elsewhere announcement, it suddenly made sense why there was no roadmap last year — really excited about the new game! Thank you to your team for the hard work!

@JoeW May I ask if we could get this image in original quality? It would be perfect as another poster or desktop wallpaper!

Also, just to clarify, I'd like to ask: were this poster and the poster for the game's 10th anniversary created by Jeff Agala, or another artist, like Toni Zhang? Unfortunately, I can't find any official comments on this.

Think of how many times shipwrecked, hamlet, forge and gorge have been referenced by klei in the last few years and you'll get your answer.

- Early/Mid-game content
Mostly mid-game here, but we know there is plenty of room for us to work, and many of you have been asking for it.

YES!!!

With 2 individual skill trees (focusing on quality) per year, we'll have to wait more than 3 years to see all the missing ones completed. Wow!

I DIDNT THINK ABOUT THIS LMAOOOOOOOOO THATS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....
TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST, THEY SHOULD POUR EVERYTHING TO FINISHING/TOUCHING UP OLDER SKILL TREES and only THEN work on arcs, cause lets be honest I myself and hopefully others also think skill trees should be finished and good to go first before we, literally, get story arcs. With the way things are going especially with dont starve elsewhere dst might suffer heavily

I'm happy there going back to the first couple of skill trees and giving them a face lift since the newest skill trees are just on a whole nother level it's nice to know that the first few survivors to get skill trees won't the left in the dust

YEAH. REAL TALK.

This is something I kept on me for all these years. I always thought a tinfoil hat conspiracy, is they had big plans with them, as key components for Rifts and thus the story and thus the ending of Dst, but after the big disaster of 2023 and their apology letter, they discarded their original plan and abandoned and forgot about werepig and frostjaw. Which results now very weird to them be put in SO many promotional art since they're objectively the less impactful things in the game, story and lore. Ironically enough, Ancient Guardian and Crab King are far more impactful and a better duo to be put in the promotional art (especially to reflect the lunar and shadow side, again something that it seems they want to do with frostjaw and werepig, and thus confirming my conspiracy...)

Mid game content focus huh ? I know a lot of people want it but I'm not sure if thats what the game needs, I think more post rift raid bosses would be interesting... You know like super hard bosses to challenge the veterans and extend our playtime with the rifts considering how much they add and how little we get to play with them due to the lack of bosses

Mid/early game is already stacked with all sorts of bosses and extending it more just feels weird

But overall I do agree that some areas do need a glow up... Places like the mushroom forests, the rocky areas, and even the ocean can feel completely empty so they absolutely need some new mobs to create a little ecosystem for them and give us a reason to revisit them and be exciting and/or threatening when you run through them

Really looking forward to the content this year, especially hoping the "retouching of previous updates" includes skill trees.

That said does this mean from beyond won't finish this year? It's not inherently a problem, but it's a shame the games' built to something we won't see the conclusion to for a good long while.

NOOO we're SO close to conclusion to the rift arc. We need that at least.

(Also, I wouldn't be surprised if From Beyond was the final story arc for DST, before we just start getting mainly mid-game content and skill tree updates)
