In just 3 months, DST will be turning 10 this year! It's kinda hard to believe it's been around for so long, and harder to imagine what the game would evolve into for people who've been playing in the early days. As the game approaches it's double digit birthday, I was wondering if Klei would be planning anything special. After all, DST is Klei's most popular game, so there's a chance they could be planning something big. What do you guys hope will happen for DST's 10 birthday? A reanimated collab animation of the first animated short? The Forge or Gorge making a comeback? Old builds being playable? Or do you just hope the game continues to thrive and succeed? Whatever the case, I'd love to hear what you all about the game turning 10. Still kinda unreal that I've been surviving in this harsh world for almost 8 years.

I'm counting on at least a major Quality of Life Update with tons of changes.
They did one for Don't Starve's 10th anniversary. So maybe they'll do one for Together's 10th anniversary as well.
It would be cool to see a boss rework (e.g., Toadstool) in such an update, or at least minor changes to some bosses (e.g., Celestial Scion).

party hat skin

ooo, Prestipartytator

- Limited craftable trinkets could be fun, each survivor can craft just one or maybe a few, related to lore and/or utility, Wolfgang crafting Potato Cup, Walter crafting Melty Marbles, etc,

- Crossover with other games 10 or more years old, ex: Slime Rancher turned 10 this week

Ooh I would love a slime rancher crossover! A critter slime! (Maybe even a complimentary skin for each slime variant… ha one can dream)

Fuelweaver rework that makes him not a terrible, stressful nightmare to fight without post-lunar rifts gear, more in line with the difficulty of other pre-rifts bosses. Maybe they can let us charge the heart with pure horror (like the Terrarium with nightmare fuel) and it'll make him the exact fight we have now.

Hot take: Crossover content is almost always subpar. That goes for almost all games and extends to crossovers within the same franchise. The main exceptions are games like Smash Bros that are designed around it. Little cameos or nods can be fun but when it becomes a Thing then it always feels a little off. I think there's something about handing the designers a thick document on brand-use guidelines and telling them that's their next creative spark that just isn't conducive to great development. Or maybe it's just the voice in the back of my head that reminds me I'm no longer exactly playing a game but participating in a synergistic content-based marketing strategy. I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that I hope if they do something it's their own thing.

Ngl, I think DST (the way they set up Wortox in the Terrarria crossover) is perfect for crossovers. Just say the funny furry brought over people from a different world into theirs. Also, crossovers usually bring so much variety to a game that I can't not be excited about them.

IDENTITY V CROSSOVER WHEN KLEI, YOUR GAMES ARE NEAR IDENTICAL IN STYLE AND TIME PERIOD!?

There are mods that exist on pc that people playing on consoles would love to have official access to. And more importantly Klei has (on several accounts) hired the people who worked on those mods to officially work on the game. It would be nice if mods like Shipwrecked, Forge etc became officially playable in game. And finally we would have significant content to enjoy that isn’t just gate-kept by opening late game rifts.

You want them to add the entirety of Shipwrecked... A DLC for their other game that is pay to play... Into DST for free?

Toadstool just needs to get good drops.

^^^^^^

This exactly. People who always shout "rework toadstool" during the years only tends to talk and think about the loot, so they should say "rework toadstool loot" because otherwise it's an injustice how many tomatoes have been thrown at him and I'm tired to seeing it. His fighting design is gold and stomps a lot of the new modern super boss fights/raid bosses.

It's not decent, it's an excellent super boss fight/raid boss. One of the top 5 best boss fights in the game. Here. I say it. And I don't want to hide it.

I've always wanted a party hat skin for something, Idk why. Imagine someone's birthday is that day and you all pull out the party hat tophat skins, super cute.

Ooh, perfect idea for a login bonus.

This skin would go great with the Don't Starve 10th Anniversary chest skin.

Why rework an already decent boss people enjoy?

For me, Toadstool is a bit boring boss.
He could have at least one more attack to make the fight a bit more interesting. Maybe a tongue attack or something.

They could also make it so that damage from falling objects always occurs during combat.
Because since they added pillars, it's very easy to negate falling rocks from the earthquakes caused by Toadstool's jumps.

And of course, as people mentioned before, he should drop something better besides lamps, napsack, and hats.

Yeah, yeah, a cave generation rework and a ruins rework would also be cool in such a QOL update.

Maybe for you but hes already a decent boss. Reworking him is dumb and a waste of time and resources.

Why rework a boss to dissapoint many players to please a few? Why not spend that time making a good update instead.

Toadstool's kinda mid at best design-wise, very repetitive due to his small move pool and he takes way too long solo. The loot is outdated, too, if they do nothing else, they need to buff the loot. Like, the lamps we get from winning the endurance match that is Toadstool are literally worse versions of the same thing from Year of the Depths Worm that you get for next to free.

They gave him a ton of health because he was made back when they mistakenly assumed people had friends and so designed bosses to be fought by large groups, but they seem to have realized with their more recent boss designs that at least half the playerbase plays alone, given that all the more recent content is more reasonable to do solo and doesn't have mechanics where you need one or two dudes doing other stuff to keep the boss vulnerable while someone else does damage.

This game just needs raid boss health to scale based on how many players are in the arena when the boss becomes hostile/are logged into the server. It's a common feature in other games, I dunno why everyone's so opposed to it in this game where it could be toggled in world settings. Like, just make Toadstool have a ton of health if there's a bunch of players, and a more reasonable (Bee Queen level) amount if it's only one dude. Yes, playing Wolfgang with solo boss HP scaling will mean the boss dies faster, that's what Wolfgang's for and is not a criticism of this suggestion, he does that right now too.

Misery Toadstool (99,999) strongly reminds me of the long-life optional bosses from the Final Fantasy saga. I love the developers' creativity in blowing up a bird for that purpose. I think the boss's loot would be interesting again if the lamps were reworked, as they illuminate a very small area.

It's interesting that the devs transferred Napsack's properties to Wormwood in an extremely cheap way, but are unable to optimize Toadstool's loot.

Napsack is suck a weak and useless item. Its only use is duping skin.
