  1. 1. Would you be fine with klei sacrificing 1 future (after shadow rift finale) content update for this sort of revisiting update, dedicated to improving older content, rather than adding more new content?

Lately, klei have been making updates primarily for new content, with adjustments to older content being on the side, and not the primary point or highlight of the update.

Which is why i suggest that, after the shadow rift finale update gets released, we get an update dedicated to adjusting older content, that came out not entirely satisfying during it's update, such as rift system (waiting for 15 days for brightshades for example) and cave bridges, or things that were simply left unfinished, such as frostjaw and warblers, as well as adding various community suggestions for other changes, such as using elastispacer on howlitzer or making water balloons and other things make creatures wet

(all these changes are only examples, not exact things that they'd have to add during the update, so if you disagree with them, but still are fine with the overall idea of an update for revisiting old content, that would be a "yes" in the poll).

I think, instead of dedicating a whole patch to revisit old stuff, would it be better if they sneak in a few tweaks for old content in every update (with new content)? That way, there's new stuff to incentivize players to play the game as well. (Basically, what they're doing with the drying racks.) Right now, we don't get updates every month, so having too big of a gap of new content might hurt the player base, I don't know.

The way it is now, with a few changes to old stuff along with new content, i fear it'd take an extreme amount of time to fix up all the unfinished/unsatisfying stuff, especially given that lunar hail changes were planned to be during frostjaw update (i think? maybe it was the crab king rework update? not sure) but only got in now, over a year later, and frostjaw's still waiting to get finished.

I would be down for a 1-a few QoL updates after the arc concludes to touch up/expand on old content currently implemented. I know it’s not as exciting, but it makes a huge difference in terms of enjoyability. The moonstorm quest improvements are probably the biggest example, with the spark arcs going from 3-1, ways to farm gleams/charged shards in mass, and said shards not spoiling at extreme speeds. These make it so much less tedious to mass farm the champ, and go a long way to improving the player experience.

Yes, because players will always have suggestions/improvements/balance changes over the existing items/content. I've seen tons of them. Even though a lot of them sound good, we've to consider whether the items/content really need to be fixed, whether it'll be worth the time, or which one should take priority.

I’d like new stuff in the caves and ocean.

Oh definitely caves I feel caves are incredibly glossed over when it comes to lack of content. I mean I only ever go down there for ruins/rifts maybe rarely for lunar mushrooms.

Someone once made a map (can’t remember where the post is, sorry) where the mainland was just a small chunk of the whole world, and the rest was a huge ocean with tons of new islands to explore. The islands wouldn’t even need to be anything fancy at first—just existing set pieces and biomes turned into islands.

Subsequent updates may (or may not) add special content to the new archipelago, but even just a first update to open up the exploration part of the game would be great.

And a larger late-game boat base would be awesome.

The mushroom planter is way out of date, IMO. From comments in the code, it looks like living log was chosen for restoring uses because depletion is indistinguishable from structural damage?

The cost is too high even before you consider RWYS crops, cave mushrooms, and banana bushes make it basically irrelevant for anyone but Wormwood. It really just needs to work with manure and rot, and maybe have slower growth instead of rotting when snow falls.

I voted "no" because 1 update isn't enough.
We could go a whole season of updates focused on old content.

Redoing things that already exist:
World Generation Overhaul
Additional server/world settings to adjust difficulty both easier and harder
Boss redesigns (ideally to make certain bosses a threat globally if you don't kill them)
Item balancing (Clothes, Armors, Weapons, Foods)
Crockpot overhaul (We got a decent though overpowered farming, if only crockpots were updated too)

Adding new things to old content:
New seasonal hazards (Blizzards, monsoons, tornadoes, whatever)
New creatures for old biomes, hostile and passive (especially important for caves)
New Crockpot recipes
Plenty of other things for Pre-rift that I can't think of.

The main thing, at least for me, is I beg of you Klei if you insist on bosses in a survival game, give me a reason to fight them. "loot" isn't enough, make them oppose my way of life in some way. Not every boss has to be this way but something as simple as Malbatross just being a nuisance when trying to fish in a shoal is enough incentive to slay them.

Random idea: Frostjaw generating more and more icebergs throughout the ocean until you defeat him.

Also, I do agree with one update not being enough. I hope the next few updates following this arc's conclusion will be mainly just, revisiting and fleshing out things that need it (caves biomes, lunar rift if it still feels barren, etc.)

Idea's for the raid bosses, most of these would begin some time into a season and die down as the season peters out.

Klaus: Reducing the nautiness threshhold during winter while his sack remains (In hindsight this would probably just be used for Krampus farms so perhaps something better

Bee Queen: Pollen effect on the surface during spring, effects like hayfever from hamlet but less server

Toadstool: Incrase spoilage of food/ spoilage items in the caves during summer.

Don't want any of these to be too hard on the player considering these are raid bosses and harder to deal with solo, but just something to encourage fighting them before/ during a season

Completely not at all relevant to the topic, but since I saw this as the edit, it’s why I often leave a space when I type emoticons (like : P or : ) ), to avoid having the forums automatically turn it into an emote I don’t exactly desire…

Some things I'd like to see recieve an update:

Cooking, hunts, combat(maybe), clothing (body slot items), seasons and some other stuff I can't really remember atm.

Cooking - Something like Gorge, specifically how characters cook different types of foods faster(Warly would cook all types the fastest)

Hunts - Additional mechanics and/or gear that affects the outcome of hunts

Combat - too many mobs have the eggsact same kiting pattern and it gets boring

Clothing items - Essentially worthless due to backpacks/football helmets/eyebrella/beefalo hat

Seasons - More seasonal threats and effects

Just some random thoughts/ideas.

I love this idea if only because it would let me keep mushroom planters as decoration over the winter, heheh.

Hopefully they will fix the delay between the surface server and the caves. And they will add it... THE REAL ruins... This is the most important improvement of the old content that I am waiting for.
I hope Old Beardlords and Glommer Bell will be around someday. At least for solo worlds.

Я не говорю, что старый CK был идеальным, но он определённо был ближе к идеалу, чем то, во что он превратился сейчас.

The old CC was a disgusting boss for solo. Ice Staff AFK simulator. But for teams... He was a really fun raid boss, and the new one just breaks down in terms of phases due to being beaten by 3+ people.

Which console are you playing on? I ask because the load time between the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X/S is significantly different, I’m talking the X/S is fast, super fast.. you’ll load into the world a full minute and 40 something seconds before someone still lagging behind on the Xbox One.

Perhaps the load times are so long because your hardware is outdated? 🤷🏻‍♂️

yes, with the caveat that honestly after the many years of QoL the base experience of the game is honestly in a pretty good state. I think Klei would need to be careful with what they would tweak. I'd like to see balance changes to crock pot recipes (mostly in the form of buffs and new special effects) and perhaps a look at some of the skill trees that were more poorly received.
