Coming back to this game after 3 years, it feels like things just got worse; bloated and badly designed.

The crafting menu is super clunky, couldn't care less about new bosses because this game is not a combat game, it's a survival game and things like the Rabbit King just feel like a giant middle finger for not reading through the entire wiki beforehand. Skill trees, ain't nobody got time for that, need to gather grass.

I want the survival game back that we once had.

I can’t believe we live in the year 2025 and people still somehow think the old crafting menu was somehow less clunky than the new menu…

Tiny icons, more clicks to achieve the same thing and an overloaded interface will do that

Depends on what console you play on I guess? The old menu was more Controller Friendly, in my opinion.

Maybe if it was vanilla when you didn’t need to scroll through every page in a tab to find an item, but that doesn’t apply to modern day DST. A huge reason they changed it is because of the sheer amount of craftables becoming available that bloated the crafting tabs meant for ~10 items per tab at best, when DST often can have dozens of items per tab. The new menu can easily support dozens of items, has a search bar, and still achieves the goal of being intuitive enough to utilize once used for a few minutes (yes, it has a learning curve, but so did the old menu…?).

Even accounting this, you still have the pinned tab to make items you constantly use and can set to your liking, alongside the ability to craft component items without needing to jump over to its recipe and craft that first.

I myself can’t say much on this because back when I played PS4 I also really didn’t like using its old menu on a controller, especially when bulk crafting. It worked, but that was about it.

We got a clown here, or should I say dst’s boomer.

"I wish I can get back to the good’Ol days without sea"

"Love those simple good old days that we have nothing to do after killing fuelweaver"

"Imagine growing giant crops with brain, when we can just use farm plot and spam wicker books for food"

I think klei can just start world largest circus by hiring these clowns in the forum.

I just hope Klei won’t get influenced by this kind of guy, cause you guys are doing much better than some game devs like Ark’s snail game and wildcard

Good points could've been made that'd end as "thanks, can we get this and that please" , but saying "can we stop getting things" and just being negative is not a nice response to all the people who work hard for this game.
A lot of other game developers just make a game, overcharge people, grab the bag, deaf to any feedback, leave the game with critical bugs, and you never see them again.
Yet Klei has been, and still is pushing updates, bug fixes even in the weekends, etc. This is not a respectful way to criticize.

No, I don't want the new team to fix DST, I just want them to leave it alone since they've just made the game worse. When you pull almost the entire team and leave a couple of devs that can't maintain it, just let it rest. Whatever this year's iteration is, it's an abomination and I have no faith in them being able to save it without pulling tons of "features".

Why bother post it in forum if you don’t like it while others do? Just move on, boomer

they've also been making updates that introduced an issue and waited a month to make the solution... and the skill trees nobody asked for after 3 years of character update... and brightshades, great depth worm, rabbit king...

Honestly it's better they don't update at all than making bad updates, or just stop at return of them

I get that there are some aspects of the update that are not great, but saying all of it is bad and just abandoning DST would somehow be the better outcome is really silly. There’s a lot of good QOL/content that people enjoy that the updates provided, which significantly outweighs the “bad” aspects. I get people are usually negative here, but its mostly because the content that is good doesn’t stick out sorely and therefore people don’t talk about it.

Like, I get if you don’t like the direction of the content and its not your thing, but saying the game should never be updated again ever would improve things is the wrong way to go about this.

I mean aside from the rabbit king causing an entire host of new players (And one veteran player who was used to not playing this as a boss rush,) i introduced to this who liked DS singleplayer to just outright quit this because it was far more than what they were willing to deal with for an invisible timer.... I have liked most non-boss content we've gotten.

I would have liked a hybrid of the two crafting menus for sure, say, you could put an item filter in a crafting hotbar slot and not just a single item that way if there was a filter you wanted to two button press access like the old UI you easily could.

That way you could say, have the tools filter and character filter in your first few slots to get like 80% of your crafts out of the way, the last few slots could be for items you want like the current crafting ui.

If this had been before the Skill Tree update which revealed the community’s tendency toward Dev Worship, and before the Hostile Takeover update, which was clearly unfinished for some unknown reason and rushed out on the day of KleiFest, I might have been able to laugh at OP's joke.

I get OP isn't being constructive but this attitude doesn't help either "if you dont like the current game just get lost!"

As for you OP I get where you're coming from, a lot of the recent content has been underwhelming at best or outright a negative addition to the game. (Except for the new ocean stuff from last year, those new items were actually peak)

You've still got Don't Starve if you don't want to be annoyed or having your experience impeded, hell I'd say, excluding bugs, the last update Don't Starve got (and is probably ever going to get for a looooooong time) was a good one. I myself just recently finally beat adventure mode after years of not doing so (on first try too) and it was fun.

Next time... should probably put your post a bit more constructively, because even though I understand why and even share your sentiment... The way you went about this post just makes it an easy skip or write off for most people on here, including the devs.

These forums are here for feedback. If you do not have anything polite to contribute to the conversation, just move on.

I would appreciate hearing your perspective on this thread as the administrators.

The Author is offering "constructive feedback" regarding the Resurrected skins specifically out of consideration for those who owned them originally.

However, people continue to attack the author in a manner that can hardly be described as "polite to contribute to the conversation".
