How could they not be supported by Klei if they come with exclusive in-game skins?

Fraudulent advertisement maybe...? But the skin themselves look pretty legit. I dunno, we still have to wait for klei to officially state if it is indeed a legit product.

i'm just going to come out and say it: is there literally any reason to think these aren't official that isn't just xenophobia? would you all be saying "hmmm... we'll have to wait and see, these could be bootlegs with fake skin images..." if it was announced by like, jakks pacific, or is it just because it's chinese

it is legit, because Klei's official account in China reposted the announcement about this merchandise release.

Yeah. We not having info from the owner of the game, Klei about this. Normal that people are suspicious with how much scams there are nowadays.

Well, in that case we wait for them to clarify if the skins will be available to everyone, and in what way. I would be pretty miffed if they put it in the resurrect tier but oh well.

If Klei was a Chinese/Japanese/whatever company and then some random American company started selling their merch with absolutely nothing said by the official company and that merch is not available in the country the game is made in I would wonder if those were bootleg too. I think you're projecting about the xenophobia thing, you see people suspicious about a weird merch thing that's and you immediately jump to the race of the sellers, since you think that's really suspicious for some reason.

in context this specific forum has a long history of this specific sort of behaviour so i'm with lowercase on this one. i was here for tencent, i was here for wendy. i am going to be here when this is over too. i want to see what klei says about availability but i am not going to make assumptions about officiality

I don't think Tencent has a particularly great reputation even in China. And if you think some of the Wendy supporters' threats can be explained by translation issues, then I've got a bridge to sell the Wigfrid skin controversy represented more than just one weirdo.

i'm only talking about how some of the forumites felt free to act. the rest is not really relevant to the conversation
