Please do not post names of other players. If you need to provide information about individuals that you believe may be involved, please do so privately.

Name is still in title of the topic.

I'm not sure what the developers official stance on this is at the moment, but for the time being, I strongly recommend avoiding public servers, especially those with large numbers of players or no password protection.

To minimize risk and ensure a safer experience, it's best to host your own server with a password until the issue is properly addressed.

I most recommend Vox Launcher, Don't Starve Dedicated Server on Steam, DST's builtin self hosting or if you wanted server hosting then something like Nodecraft

Stay safe out there, everyone.

DST Dedicated Server would not help against that virus, it spreads through the infected admin, but it is of little importance because the author himself removed the virus, but this does not cancel the fact that others can now make their own virus.

It would since the user that can infect you requires a password to get to your server and do their shenanigans

I'm still confused, I assume this is caused by a mod, and if so, do we know which mod?

The most recent mod that I downloaded before the virus was the foxy Jumpscare but it could also be skin extender (opens gifts without science machine nor animation) or similar mods.

而那些单独玩而不进入服务器并且只在本地服务器上玩的人,这也会影响他们吗?
只有那些在公共服务器上玩的人吗?

目前,即使没有登陆公共服务器的玩家在下载病毒mod后也会受到影响

And those who play solo without entering servers and play only on local ones, did it also affect them or
only those who played on public servers?

Public servers only.

And it's not a mod.

They are using a custom made command that does shenanigans.

It's complex and there is no way to protect yourself on public servers.

All you can do is play on password protected servers or your own protected server

At this moment please stay calm while things are getting sorted out.

Lmao no way it's the foxy mod

Last time I checked it was number one in the workshop, too

This happened to me as well, and  I was fortunate enough to close the game before it buy heels. However, as far as I know, many of my friends' spools have been woven into heels, which has caused them to completely lose most of their spools. And I don't know whether I still have the virus or not, which keeps me from playing with my friends.

So it's a user that walks into any public game that you are playing at, and does weird stuff through in game commands?
Most people keep reporting mods... I'm confused.

  1. Would playing with known friends be safe?
  2. Could a known person you play with be the carrier of the virus (without them knowing), and infect others?

I'm most certainly not gonna play until this is sorted, or I get more information on how to deal with the issue.

1. Yes as long as you are on secured password server

2. No cause the carrier needs to have that specific command

creator of the foxy jumpscare mod here

can we please like, check sources before we start making baseless accusations and confusion on this matter? check the code of the mod, there is nothing malicious in it whatsoever. you don't even need to be proficient in programming to tell me that it is safe to use

Their code contains zero evidence of using functions that would unravel/buy items.

Please do as said above and avoid false accusations
