What strategy do you guys like using for Beequeen?

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious but Beequeen is a boss my knowledge is fairly limited with since i'm only familiar with some basic strategies (like pan flute for phase 2) or character specific stuff like shadow prison or bramble husk, so im curious what strategies other people in the community have come up with for the boss since she's considered pretty difficult.

me personally, I've been playing mostly maxwell recently so I've been using codex spam to nuke her. But if you got another character specific strategy, something else or some black magic you want to share I am quite interested in seeing it!

Wortox can make a long cross of wooden fences and then teleport across them. Bee queen will follow and fly over the fences, but the grumble bees will take the long way around as long as you don't make the fences too long.

Off top of head, the fences can be 15 units long from the center.

I believe I've seen Wanda players do this, too, by running around the circumference.

i only play walter so here's how i fight her:

  • while riding woby, wear scalemail and thulecite helmet. i will always be bucked off from any bee hit so damage reduction doesn't really matter but scalemail will burn nearby grumble bees and thulecite helmet will prevent me from being staggered, buying me time to use a panflute, lazy explorer, or just simply remount woby
  • i fight using a slingshot with any 51-damage ammo (marbles, cursed, moonshots) for phase 1&2, kill all grumble bees but one so she won't keep spawning bees (moonshot is aoe so this doesn't really matter). for phase 3&4, i use exclusively moonshots for aoe to kill grumble bees as much as i can, and dodge them with woby's speed when the queen screams
  • healing and (more) sanity food for when i inevitably get hit, i can feed woby some snacks any time i'm free, or i can panflute and feed

if you want to watch me struggle, here's a yoochube clip. this is from a while ago and i have improved a lot since

Spoiler

spamming panflute is one way to go.
but im mailnly play willow so.. blast her away XD
doing it with walter also fun .. high risk high reward. since no armor can keep u save from being bucked cus bee sting  (maybe bone armor but still )
i usually play with no armor at all and keep my lost if i got stung XD (or really good RNG where i can get up after getting bucked before all other bee stung me)
its kinda make being ranged fight more exciting since if its too safe it will be boring press f, i tend to play extra careful this way..

enough characters have aoe that i usually just utilize their aoe method. Otherwise I do the pan flute method, which I really hate doing since its really slow and tedious. Bosses like Bee Queen are why I'm completely okay with more and more characters gaining aoe tbh

I only fight her with at least 1 teammate, otherwise cheese her with whatever method I can afford (usually freezing her with ice flingos, because you get all the resources needed at the end of first season)

I don't think there are many strategies with her, mostly it feels like cheese and those that aren't are just legit fights without any strat really

I use followers on this fight for a variety of reasons. I like @Gashzer's idea to tweak the fight to have followers and bees prioritize fighting each other.

While this idea would make the bee queen fight functionally like a 1v1 similar to most boss fights. The fight itself would look so epic like a massive battlefield so it would look and feel so cool.

And it has the bonus of not reworking the fight completely so people who want that solo challenge can have it.

This is a funny method that is actually pretty consistent. And it works with all characters. https://youtu.be/irBl6Mbsx1c?si=1ZddbndDgeY1ab6h

You can make the cross wall for any character

You can also walk her but that takes a lot of time. Walls help alot because Queen ignores walls but grumbles don't

I use the scalemail always, it's the easiest method. Just remember to stop using the armor and just run for some seconds until the fire is out before she dies to not lose the loot.

oh and I bring a bunch of healing food and thulecite crowns, like 8 crowns and 3 scalemails to guarantee.

Yep, that's a common flaw with A New Reign bosses: you either subvert their mechanics in a way that feels cheap or you just slog your way through something clearly meant for multiple players and dump a ton of resources. There's almost no being clever or creative about it but cheese with them. They need updates.

I get an opportunity to reshow my Very Normal*, Cheap*, and Quick Bee Queen Setup! It makes Quick work of Bee Queen, and basically pretty much everything else!

Least expensive way for a solo player to kill bee queen without cheese

The best part about BQ is that there are many non cheese ways of killing her solo, despite what some users, who prefer to blame the game instead of their lack of skill, are saying. I usually tank her during spring so I can stack with a morning star

Outside of spring I like to use some fire staffs so I reduce her HP in the moments I can't hit her

In late I love to use BS bombs since they are cheap and fun to use

Its miserable to fight BQ on respawn solo, I am not going to gather resources for it every time. It is apparent that bosses were made for multiplayer in DST as you can compare it to DS boss health and armor stacking.

Just to be clear I am not asking for DST bosses to become like DS which are easy to kill but mechanic that is the worst is minion spam this includes DF and BQ. Dragonfly can at least be cheesed much easier with walls so most people don't even speak about it and it is often expected to use walls in multiplayer setting too so it shows that players don't like to fight her as intended anyway.

What's funny is that you tanking her shows that her mechanics are bad.

Forgot to mention in my first reply, but I often use The Twins for my first Bee Queen kill in Winter. Then I sometimes fight her a second time without them, even though I don't really use her loot as Wortox besides the bundling wrap.

In my current world, I used the Twins on back to back nights to kill, in order:

Celestial Champion, phase 1

Celestial Champion, phase 3 (they are great for this)

Shadow Pieces with double rooks (this killed the charging Twin, leaving the summoner Twin alive)

Bee Queen, but the summoner Twin alone isn't that great alone. This took two nights, and bee queen actually killed the Twin with half her health left or so.

I usually never touch the twins again after my spree in first winter, except to kill them occasionally just for a green gem. Once you get end game gear, it's just better to fight things directly.

I didn't use a snurtle shell armor this time, but it makes things easier. Wortox doesn't need it as much, as he can teleport around a bunch to make the Twins hit the boss.

Are those a bunch of pillar blueprints and ancient guardian sketches?

This is probably the single cheesiest way I have ever seen anyone ever fight bee queen. She literally got threeshot by a bajillion turrets.

I mean, the eye turrets are working as they're supposed to, doesn't seem like cheese to me. The price was paid for each of those turrets, cheese is not applicable here I believe.

Cheese doesn't mean glitch. Cheese is basically bypassing fights and not doing them at all. Teleporting out of AFW's arena and just having him die because you're abusing an AI pathfinding bug to get him stuck on stuff while houndius shootius kill him is cheese. Instantly killing bosses with a million houndius before they even have a chance to act is cheese. Nobody would say that equipping the head skin of the wrong character is cheese, even though it's an unintended glitch and not working as it's supposed to.
