I say I'm not satisfied about the skilltree yet even if the fundaments are strong and pretty fun

(also sorry for repeating myself in advance but summary is summary and context is context Dx)
I'm really unhappy with Lunar Swindler, Covetous Collector and aesthetic aspect of Wortox

Lunar Swindler fails to deliver what's the best about affinities:
Uniqueness and rewarding gameplay, but instead we have F-holding fiesta because it works like two bone armors (hence no unique experience)

Personally I would appreciate moving affinity synergy to howlitzer, because it's the same safety, but you have to earn and establish it's maintenance, which would feel both good and rewarding in my opinion

Though I would appreciate literally any alternative... even something like turning Brightshade Smasher into a weapon with special effect on Wortox

Armor synergies for Wortox are cool, but only if he gets to utilize his abudant HP to his advantage, which is Wortox's unique strength

but Lunar Swindler is quite opposite of that and there's no synergy that meaningfully clicks imo

Covetous Collector* suffers from RNG factors:
Jar and grave red gem dependency... and those things don't always come early (if at all)

and they removed the coolest thing about CC*: post-ruins upgrade
which could be defined as craftable that utilizes pure-horror from N. Werepig like Wurt or item upgrade like Wigfrid's spear

and Wortox used to have exactly that! which would remedy accessibility issues and comparable competition if time isn't important in your playthrough

In theory to get upgrade from NWPig you need to visit ruins, which eliminates graves rng and leaves us with granny jar as our goal, due to abudant gems. Also any delays dont feel bad because you know you gotta take your time and fight for the full potential anyway

Also if you want to bring the best out of CC then it will come at cost of pleasant pastorale, which is really helpful
and sacrificing it on naughty Wortox for "let's gamble my time instead of getting the job done with a hambat anyway" seems more detrimental
than helpful or rewarding

Knabsack was supposed to receive a visual update but it's nowhere to be seen after a month
and for a game like DST that could easily boast with it's aesthetic art style, Wortox received surprisingly poor treatment

I think his items look crude for someone who is smart, enjoys playing on instruments, makes witty wordplays and is sensitive!

Not to mention lack of on-launch skins for his items

As much as I appreciate the recent update I can't help but feel underwhelmed after waiting so long
and people weren't quiet about those exact issues neither

Barely had time to test the newest stuff. You always do these way too early!

Still, satisfied with the Wortox tree! There's a few minor issues still. I'll make a more in depth thread later this week, but:

Soul Bastion 2 still seems underwhelming solo. I bring this up because it's pretty much mandatory for a decent solo Nice build, as Lifegiver does nothing for you. Maybe could work if the speed of the dropped homing soul was faster? This seems really undertuned right now.

I still really want some kind of indicator that your soul echo is about to run out, without having to stare at the souls in your inventory. Example, maybe the soul echo trail around wortox could disappear a couple seconds BEFORE the echo ended. Not exactly when the echo ended.

Cloudy Carmine: Not sure if they fixed it in multiplayer yet. Seems extremely underwhelming solo.

I still wish you could soul hop and map teleport on a beefalo! This is more of a personal request, I think.

Knabsack pickup is way better now. Wish the net durability use was lower, but I have to admit it's pretty interesting. I did not expect it to be an AOE bugnet!

I dont like it.

Has very little configurations, most points are dependent of other skill points, the moon affinity is really boring, the knabsack isnt a sack but a ugly weapon for some reason

Most perks are related to souls. They could have added something magical, like wortox sucking the power of the souls to do stuff. Another bunch are only useful in multiplayer. The bouncing souls are only useful to farm souls and in very few boss fights (unless you use the boring trick of trapping small mobs and killing them near the boss and start jumping to one side to another to deal damage to the boss with a bunch of souls)

They could have added funny stuff like the decoy

Idk, i think they didnt explored the imp aspect of him, just ping pong souls and jars to store souls

I do like some things like how i love the decoy, is very fitting for a tricker and feels magical. And the perk to summon souls by using the pan flute is also very on point with the character

The speed boost after souls hoping is fun and the soul echo finally makes using souls to kite worth since you can jump up to 3 times to evade atacks, is fun to have such agile combat style. I wish shadow affinity had a clon point for early so we get a small damage buff after jumping but anyway, is fun to fight as wortox

Wortox got screwed with the new skill tree development entirely getting focused on Wendy because of the constant aggression and outrage on these boards.

Extremely dissatisfied. I have no idea why the naughty or nice system was even added. Instead of being something fun and unique, it comes off as a nerf.

I'll admit that full healer Wortox comes off kind of cool (but again there's no way to see teammate health. And the armor system makes healing kind of functionally crummy) but the rest of the skill tree is a mess

It's hard to get the talents you want because of the tree design, and his affinity skills are both pure garbage

By far the most disappointing skill tree (excluding Wilson's who I don't count since it was never truly remade)

Waiting months for Wortox to get a skill tree and honestly I have no interest in even logging on until the next content patch. Very disappointed

Don't blame Wendy for this, Walter got just as much attention as her in the end.

If Wortox needed more attention, he needed more attention. you don't need to start blaming others for it.

These forums were absolutely slammed with Wendy outrage for months non stop. Aggression, outrage, boycots, craziness in multiple languages. And it seemed like despite the patch getting delayed for eons, the focus was almost always centered on Wendy.

Walter got some love towards the end, but Wendy wss rhe star.

It's a small limited team working on these patches for free. So spending extra time on Wendy means spending less time on others. And Wortox got the shortest straw by far.

dont you know its kind of the truth? walter...you do know like half his skill tree dit not even exist? he needed honestly even more then wortox and he got a good overhaul in the end...still never stoped wendy from takin all the spot light anyways, while wortox kinda just...nothing realy...like bugnet....its....a thing

Personally, I'm disappointed and burned out.(It feels like someone took a **** in my soul huh)Maybe I expected too much from Klei (but they were able to make Willow interesting), now I already want to cry, I loved playing for wortox from the very beginning (and not only for him) now I can't play normally for him (I feel some kind of rejection), I still love him, it's just that now I I feel uncomfortable and sad or something

The skill tree certainly makes him very powerful, but that doesnt necessarily mean its "good" or "well made"

Personally, I find the lack of player choice and the fact that affinity perks are locked on specific post-rift weapons to be kinda disappointing. I have mentioned in my walter post that what i like about his skill tree is that it has a little something for everyone. In this regard I'd say Wortox is falling short, im afraid.

This. The skill tree just makes wortox ignore health, hunger and distance by the boring game loop of killing tons of bees/spiders over and over but brings few interesting things

About the affinities, i do like the shadow one but is true that sucks that is only avaraible with one specific post rift weapon (even if a scythe is fitting). Other characters like wendy, walter, wurt, etc have different affinities instead of just 1

For me it was a big mistake to make Wortox stronger than he was.
Wortox was already strong, and now he's made him even easier to play.

I would have preferred him to have a lot of disadvantages and be difficult to play.

And people still want more buffs.
I would have preferred him to be more difficult.

somehow i get the feeling you dont care for wortox at all

I do have to kind of agree to an extent even as someone who only really started playing Wortox more post skill tree his skill tree does add some fun additions but there are a fair amount of skills though particularly under nice and neutral that make me wonder why would I ever want that.

i personally dont mind a bit of grinding if it leads to some interesting playstyles... but what he has right now is unfortunately not that interesting to me at least because they are all in the same branch

In which aspect you mean? Because his naughty and nice inclinations come with penalties already, i didn't quite get which kind of difficulty you are referring to

Agree. I do like farming in a farming game but, as you said, isnt that interesting

oh my, the heart skill kind of bad...the wortox can make the heart even when he has the "no hp penality" perk, if anyone but the maker of the heart then revives a ghost with the soul heart he will STILL get hp penality despite the wortox having the perk of that not goin to happen...like wow...thats just stupid and makes it even worse then an normal tell tale heart at that point, its litteraly just a telltale heart

that is 5 times more expensive and spoils after 10 days.

not to forget...THE SOUL HEART HAS ITS MAKERS NAME, so there sould REALY be NO REASONS why if anyone elses uses it to still give a hp penality
