What do you guys think of wavey jones

apparently it took at least 2/3 of naughtiness meter for rabbid king to appear (I killed 24 rabbits in a row)

See the thing is that the rabbit king naughtiness meter doesn't drain like Krampus's does. Which is fine, because rabbits don't need to be your primary food source at any time. But if they are, you're going to be meeting that threshold quicker than you'd think.

I don't think there's anything good in making rabbits a completely unviable food source, especially for newer players

When boats were first added I was constantly engaging with boats. I would make boat bases more than I would do anything else. It introduced an entirely new way to play the game where you rush a ton of resources to get a boat base set up then use that to travel around the borders of the world instead of going straight from point A to point B. It wasn't the most optimal way to play but it was a ton of fun. Wavey Jones has ruined this entirely. Wavey Jones has made it so that I very rarely engage with boats any more past the minimum requirement, and making a boat base is something I do very rarely now (I don't even remember the last time I made Pirate Island).

Wavey Jones is not hard. Wavey Jones is not difficult. Wavey Jones is not dangerous. Wavey Jones is nothing. Wavey Jones is trivial to stop from doing anything, he is not a threat to you. All he is is annoying. Wavey Jones is nothing more than a time waster, he forces you to sit on his hands all night every night. He makes it so that in addition to needing to get 13 cut stone, 12 rocks, 5 electrical doodads, 15 rope, a driftwood, a bone shard, 16 silk, 19 boards, 2 logs, 12 charcoal, 12 twigs, 13 gold, 3 gears, 15 ice, 4 flint, 2 papyrus, and 2 seeds in order to start the boat base you also need to go get a bunch of sanity food and fill up a bunch of fridge space with food that dwindles away and you'll need to slowly go on over and sail to get more.

Boats are so expensive, and they're so slow. One of the few advantages they had was that you could at least somewhat forgo sanity since you were safe until reaching the mainland. Then they added those guys that attack you on boats, which are fine, and also Wavey Jones, which is obnoxious. Now boats are even slower and even more expensive, and it's not even in a fun or engaging way. It's just in an "Oh, you didn't bring enough sanity food. Go AFK for 5 minutes or your entire boat will be destroyed and you'll lose everything, starting over as if you had just joined the server today instead of 4 hours ago".

Although I haven't been reading patch notes recently so I don't know if they finally fixed him being invincible if you actually place stuff on your boat. I'm assuming they didn't because they went so long without ever addressing it. If they fixed that he's fine, I guess, but I still don't like him. Every other punishment for sanity is that you might die and need to be revived, while Wavey Jones' punishment is that your boat can sink and boats can have many many hours of progress on them that gets lost if they sink.

Once I stopped putting structures with a "body" on the literal edge of the boat, I never had to worry again about the little fella.
Also, if you are on the threshold for his attacks, you can hug your crockpot and wavey will spawn on the other side of the boat.

I've been doing that too, just so I don't get forced into the ocean when hopping on a boat

he super sucks but i don't want him to go away. he is a very dst kind of punishment for not minding your sanity and while i had a terrible time when i would encounter him it also made me much more mindful of my sanity both on and off of boats and i am actually a better sailor now because of it.

He‘s hillariously cruel <3 Exactly like I love the shadow creatures. I would be sad if they would change him.

(sadly I barely meet him since I suck at the boat content)

don't mind the guy, never really had problems with the guy (cuz I'm just that prepared when going sailing). I just wish it also had some presence on mainland.

Maybe they could give him some equivalent without the marine related pun? ^^

I think he is the perfect nuisance. I decided to sail at night with low sanity and, thanks to Wavey, ran into bunch of sea stacks as he repeatedly lifted my anchor.

I like the way Wavey works {meaning I hate when he appears) much more than the hand that puts out your campfire since there are too many easy ways to deal with the hand and it barely has any impact even if it does put out your fire (just refuel it).

the name was given to him by players

wavey can be my go to way to make my boat brand new again just in case i need to re-patch my boat with tree jam after doing bad job at fixing boat with tape/boat patches  they are not all bad.

were you not able to use a shovel on those spots at some point? i swear there was a way to remove those patches yourself

3 changes are absolutely necessary for him to be balanced and enjoyable:
- shouldn't spawn before something like 30% sanity, it's absurd that he can do so much damage at a level of sanity where you have literally 0 signs of any issues anywhere else
- shouldn't spawn in unreachable places/should have a higher hitbox if so
- should not do anything if no player is on the boat

Not only is the character itself a pain, I had one specific instance in which I was high sanity (but not enough because his spawn at 75% is utter b*llshit) and not on the boat but on land near a fire, and this piece of sh*t lowers my sails and raises my anchor completely out of view of any light, and my boat is gone when I check on it the next day, it took me multiple months in-game to find my boat, because the boat's trajectory made no sense as it literally went THROUGH the terrain of the very island I was standing on at the time it happened.

Wavey Jones stole my boat through no fault of my own, and made it break the laws of physics. F*ck him.
