我们可以有一把扫雪的扫帚吗?

Recommended Posts

The most uncomfortable thing about DST winter is the thick snow, which makes you unable to see the ground clearly and makes your eyes feel tired. This also makes it almost impossible for you to build a base in winter - you can't see the ground clearly and can't accurately locate the building.

I know this is part of the characteristics of DST. But can we give the broom a snow-sweeping function? Use a broom to point at a certain grid of land for a few seconds, you can clear the snow in a grid of land and get one or two ice cubes (if you have a winter feast, you will get snowballs), so that it is more convenient to decorate the base...

Consideration of balance:

I really don't think this will damage the balance of the game. This is more of a Qol change. Moreover, we can already eliminate some low-san picture shaking effects in the settings.

This will not completely eliminate the negative effects of DST winter, because they can only clean up a small area of your base, and you will still be disturbed by snow when you go out to collect or fight bosses. I think this is reasonable and fair.

Consideration of rationality:

The idea was first inspired by the winter feast to make a snowman. Since we can pick up snowballs from the ground, why can't we clean up a small piece of snow on the ground?

Consideration of interest/practicality:

Protect your eyes. It makes it more convenient for you to build bases or fight bosses in winter, and you don't have to worry about not being able to see the land clearly. I believe it is very interesting to add a new broom formula or snow remover. It encourages people to explore the world more and can be combined with the snowman activity of the winter feast, where you have a chance of getting snowballs when you sweep the snow.

Specific suggestions:

We can upgrade the broom to a snow removal broom through some recipes. Or add a new formula to make a new broom with grass, branches, beards or something else; make a snowplow with gears, rubies and nightmare fuel.

Other options:

lower the saturation of snow in the settings for the health of the eyes,Just like we can turn off the picture distortion and shaking when being low san in the settings.

Use salt and other things to make snow removers, similar to antiseptic spray, which is 100% durable. Clearing the snow on a grid of the ground will consume 1% of its durability, and salt can be used to supplement the durability.

Salt

Had you posted this when I still lived in Arizona I would have been so confused. Now that I live in Iowa and have experienced it first hand, holy cow do people love their salted paths.

As a dark mode fan, DST snow is painful. My poor eyeballs burn.

There is a mod that can remove snow filters, but I don't like to use it very much.

Not just Iowa! I live in Washington and can't even begin to eat my paths without them being salted first. Much more palatable.

it's a downside of winter, it's supposed to be the hardest season and to make the world miserable.

are we going to buff winter because you can't accept that?

Not only me. I believe many people don't like this.

In addition, sweeping snow with a broom will not completely remove the snow in the world. It will only clear a small area, making it more convenient for you to build the base.

Also, the shaking , earthquake and low san effect can be turned off in the settings, and I believe it is also fair to turn off or lower the saturation of the snow in the settings.

This was previously a visual effect of Night Berries, but was changed after receiving overwhelming bad reputation from players.

I don't want to call something causes damage players' sight or health a "Downside."

Personally, I play videogames to have fun, not to be miserable and unhappy. The snow layer makes me miserable and unhappy, it strains my eyes even if I turn on a blue light filter, so I instead turn it off with a client mod. I think it's unfair that I have this option, but people who play on console or otherwise unmodded do not.

Winter in general is just painfull for the eyes at least for me, some characters even vanish amid the snow. Wish we could have options to set the constrast/saturation better.

It's so horrible. But I believe it's just a beta version of nightberry, otherwise I'll be blind.

See, this is the downside of this forum, it's supposed to make every discussion here become salty. We'd better to enjoy it rather than to try to change it.

Seeing your sentence made me laugh out loud:wilson_ecstatic:.

I think the so-called "not in line with the theme of DST" is just an excuse for them to attack what they don't like.

Not really? It's mostly for atmosphere and to make it look like winter

It hides roads and makes pitchfork work almost impossible. Do you think klei didn't intend that?

I think Klei probably intended for pitchforks to be used for the sole purpose of placing down artificial turf at your base to prevent lureplants from spawning, and nothing else. That is to say: after 11 years, a lot of the game's early design is flawed and outdated compared to how the playerbase actually plays the game, and it's not unreasonable to ask for ways to work around it. That being said, most every suggestion here has been for something either too expensive (salting every individual tile you want immune to snow) or too impractical (digging up every individual tile of snow every single winter) to realistically use on roads, so why are you so incredibly opposed to it? Will it destroy the game's balance if you could hypothetically spend hundreds of salt to, uhhhh... let you decorate your base easier, or to make roads visible with so much time invested that you could've tamed a beefalo? Is that really a stance worth insulting people over?

What do you suppose is the point of not being able to do this in winter, specifically?

there's a client mod that removes all snow from ground. Klei will take several years to even consider this with the pace they are going.

it's the same design as in DS1. it's a harsh season that nerfs alot of things.

gardens shouldn't even work in winter, but somehow that got overlooked.

Some things developers just never considered and they are as they are. I don't believe that every single thing that is currently a negative is a downside.

Why does every single QOL change suggestion need to go to downside/difficulty? That is part of the reason people aren't getting taken seriously when they actually suggest changes that make the game more difficult besides the building destruction.

Farming wasn't overlooked as it was a somewhat recent addition so it was designed that way and it is still very bad food source, it might be a bit unrealistic but why does farming need a nerf? Games need to be designed so that it feels like you are not punishing yourself by doing something when better options exist and farming needs to get changes to make it more rewarding.

The difference is that you actually need to eat in winter. You don't need to mess with turfs, and the walking cane becomes accessible so roads are less important.

It's a minor annoyance at best, excluding the eye strain (which isn't a gameplay feature).
