    • To make the game easier.
    • Extra information, such as when the winter is coming.
    • Convenience, such as ground chest.
    • Appearence.
    • To make the learning curve smoother.
    • To make the game harder
    • To make it easier to communicate, such as status announcements.
    • I want to feel like a God.
    • I don't use mods.
    • I actively avoid mods (reason in replies)
    • Other (also replies)
    • Add more content, not necessarily to make the game easier or harder.

What about "To add more content to engage with in the game"?

I totally understand why people would enjoy some convenience mods but as for the difficulty mods, most of those mods usually bring something alongside them other than pure difficulty.

No one uses mods like Uncomp only to make the game harder.
You can already do that with the in game world settings.

I use Cockney Pigmen mod because it's absolutely amazing and should have its own category of vote option. Another must-have for me is Don't Starve Alone for the lag. Other than that, I could live with no mods at all, the game would just need more babysitting/micromanaging.

Added the option.

I feel like this mod should have its own tier cuz of how it did solo DST gaming much enjoyable. Does it has its own bugs and faults? Yeah, but the benefits of having a smooth gaming session makes up for it.

The option "I want to feel like a god" feels very judgemental and that is why I voted for it.

Why shouldn't I be able to decide how difficult the game should be to me? If I use client mods on your server it is my choice and it doesn't affect you besides me being faster at some tasks and maybe getting to boss first which is very rare to see on pubs that multiple players are rushing the same boss.

Convenience is a big reason I have played DST so much over the years and it has mostly been solved by mods but there have been some klei updates too. The most important mod for me now is the one that lets make me blueprints to paste over on the next server, so many farms and setups always stay the same and it is painful to rebuild them without this mod.

Mod that lets me remove snow and rain effects is also very important, I like seeing roads in winter and I don't like seeing rain, I prefer when less things move on my screen.

Status announcement mod is also quite good to use when playing with people because it lets you share information as If you were in voice call.

I use many mods - some are normal QoL ones like Geometric Placement, some for additional content, some for extra info (that inevitably makes the game easier, even if not directly).

Early on when playing, before I knew about mods like Insight, I would resort to using my phone to note down e.g. when seasonal bosses last came/when hounds attacked to gauge when the next wave would be/keep track of which resources I last harvested/when I last killed which boss etc. (I just like knowing things!)

It became tedious to keep track of stuff manually especially when playing in long term worlds, so when I learnt about Insight I never looked back lol.

It does make the game easier because it eliminates any surprise factor but given my playstyle it's almost a necessity for my IRL sanity, so these days to have some kind of "balance" (or at least that's what I tell myself lol), I try to only use it in my longer worlds.

Action Queue Reborn also is a game changer, I don't play without it now.

I admire players who can thrive without mods (e.g. players who count how many times it take for a weapon to kill a boss without health bars/players who tend to tame beefs with no mods etc.), but I'm not cut out for that haha

I wish that the content mods in Chinese would have an English localization or something close to that. Not sure how DST got so popular with the Chinese (modding) community but I'm getting FOMO from not getting a piece of it.

Lol some of them look so good or add such a nice qol change to the game but I can’t understand a thing and they pass unnoticed.

accessibility. i shouldn't have to stop playing games just because some of them don't consider reduced motor skills to be worth the labour to account for. if i can take as much time as i need ascend to lamby godhood why can't i also have enough time to get back to base and eat the two figwiches i made

tencent took a percentage of the ownership and tencent has direct ties to the mainland chinese government. government approves of game = game gets hella promoted

Simple life bar: I probably shouldn’t, but I do like seeing it.

Wormhole colors: QOL, I frequently take breaks from DST.

Geometric placement: I dont actually like it.

Beefalo taming info: I like seeing the numbers, although I probably shouldn’t.

It was popular in China well before Tencent purchased a portion.

not like it is now. there was an upswell in chinese-language players and modders after that. i was super invested in the modding community at the time and watched the shift while it was happening. if you go look at the workshop and look at the upload dates you can clearly see the increased number of people making and using mods who primarily use simplified chinese and have chinese names(and as often have themselves marked as being located in china). it is very clear to see that the increase of mods that are in chinese are because there are more chinese players who want mods and they want mods that suit their play styles and cultural interests(which is good! more players means more diverse options to play which means more interest in the game which means more incentive to keep updating and supporting it)

I was talking about mods like TMIP there.

I use mods to remove the moggle filter, and the gloomberry beta filter mod because I have eyes and I would like to keep them functional as long as possible. (why klei, why did you even have the beta filter if you were gonna make it nuclear blue on release)

I have a ton of other mods, but most all of them can be chalked up to either visual effects, like the moggles thing, or informational mods, like my farming mod that helps me with plant  nutrient math.
The only real one I think maybe pushes the limit slightly is the "show aggro" mod. But also it helps me see nightmare creatures easier because they have the label over their heads, so I keep it.

server mods?
old farms because there just better if your alone, because, well the new farm is just too much work for being alone and too much to gain from
a mod to see hp of things and a mod for singleplayer health

client mods for sure combined status, like how that not default?
remove snow so i can see during mid winter
ahm......something somehthing i feel like theres something but i forgot maybe

Mostly for information that I technically could figure out, but in practice is too tedious to keep track of/memorize (predict crock pot, predict full moon)

Or for stats that are too nebulous like boss health and temperature, it's hard to know how to interact with these things without knowing what the numbers are

MAIN REASON:
Appearence. <- I don't like tiny Maxwell and that's it!

secondary stuff:

To make the game harder <- My favourite mods from the workshop add stuff like diseases and injuries and so on. I love to use the "forbidden item" code and restrict some items from being actively picked up by my character (To give him a reason to use his shadow servants)

I want to feel like a God. <- I want Maxwell to have a kind of state between his NPC powers and his playable powers

(I just kind of forget to actually remember to use them most of the time)

Other (also replies) <- I can adapt parts of the game to my AU

Add more content, not necessarily to make the game easier or harder. <- It's fun mods can change the gameplay more then the base-adjustments allow me.

Mostly just don't starve alone but if i'm feeling like playing something else i tend to turn on geo placement and combined status, if i wanna play other chars: Wonder why, Wirra, Reign of runts, or other game changing mods: Uncompromising, Caverman(i love this one so much)

These are the mods I use. Mostly Accessibility and QoL with some might be considered cheating, might not. One of them 100% is cheating (why does a rock break?)

Accessibility Mods:

Spoiler

Accessibility: ActionQueue RB2 (RWYS Supported). Considering I play with 1 hand and repetitive tasks/pressure puts a strain on my fingers this helps with a lot of menial tasks like gathering, chopping, etc so I don't have to hold down a button which hurts if done for too long.

Accessibility: Sanity Volume Limiter. Too loud but I still want to hear it.

Accessibility/FPS Saver: Overlays Disabler. Removing the Canopy effect saves FPS. Moggles and Nightberry filters are too much for my delicate eyes.

Accessibility: Snow Tile Disabler. For someone who loves snow, ice, and the cold. It really hurts my eyes during Winter. It is just too bright especially with my photo sensitivity

Accessibility/Cheating: Indicators. Mostly use it for Tracks because I cannot see the tracks at all on Forest Turf.

Quality of Life and Visual Preference Mods:

Spoiler

QoL: Alpha Above-Average Tree Trunk. Just allows you to see through the tree trunk so it doesn't block your vision.

QoL/Cheating?: Faster Picker. Just halves the time to pick Grass, Sapplings, Bushes, etc. idk if it is cheating, but it is just a time saver.

QoL/Visual Preference: Geometric Placement. Mostly so my Grass Tufts and Sapplings are in nice box formations

QoL?: Force Biomes: I hate certain biomes so I remove them, but always enable the bee biome. (Yes I hate the 3x MacTusk biome)

QoL: Don't Starve Alone: I only play solo. People only disappoint me.

Visual Preference: Map Controls Removal. I don't like it being there.

Visual Preference: Gridless Map. The map lines upset me. This just removes them. Simple as.

Cheating or Balance Change Mods:

Spoiler

Balance/Difficulty Increase?: No Rollbacks After Death!. I'm a dirty save scummer. This prevents me from doing so.

Cheating: No Thermal Stone Durability. It's a rock. Why does it break and why does a sewing kit fix it? So weird. Plus it does/didn't have durability in solo.

Cheating/Balance Change: Repairable Fur Roll. Self explanatory imo.

Cheating/Balance Change: Tin Fishin' Bin: Barnacle Bath. Friend of mine made it. Simply allows barnacles to be put in the Tin Fishin' Bin because Barnacles are sea critters and it makes sense they would be put in there. Kind of cheating but Barnacles are so out of the way it's fine I think.

Info Mods:

Spoiler

Info/Cheat?: Craft Pot. I know the base recipes for all the usual foods I make but if I want to make something unusual this helps.

Info/QoL: Combined Stats. I can figure everything out without mods, just a time saver.

Awesome, I would also like to share the mods that I use, in order of importance:

Spoiler

Cockney Pigmen - gives Pigmen corny dialogues that crack me up.
Don't Starve Alone - reduce lag, increase stability when playing alone,, which is 100% of the time.
ActionQueue RB3 - turns the game into a RTS, but I much prefer not having to micromanage my actions.
Skins Extender - so I won't be interupted by the weekly drops.
No Wall Attack - so that I can hold F against Werepigs that are near my bait pen.
Inventory bar slot Sorter - I like to have a compact inventory UI instead of panning my eyes left to right.
Victorian HUD - aesthetic.
Wormhole Icons - marks Womholes and numbers them too.
Sanity Volume Limiter - to preserve my sanity.
Silent Woby - a must-have as a Walter main. I love Woby but geez.
Craft Pot - shows crockpot recipe, which is neat. I will still play without it though.
Crockpot Repeater - maybe I don't really need this.
Geometric Placement - neat placement, love it as a builder, not necessary to play.
Geometric Drop - neat drop, love it as a builder, not necessary to play.
Combined Status - info mods are for convenience.
Item Info Updated
Snapping Tills - love farming, this is the same as ActionQueue, allowing me to feed my low attention span.
Better Crafting - something I thought should've been in the base game. Allows you to craft deeper recipe (i.e Spear in Ice Staff).
Camera Tweaks - better zoom in and out.
Classical Musics
Ground Chest - so I won't go insane looking for items while the big ass knobby tree is blocking me.
Range Indicator - so I can see the range of the knob tree, lightning rod, etc.
Pick-up Filters - stops me from picking up decorative flowers in my base.
Minimap HUD - eh, not needed now that I think about it.
Nightmare Phase Indicator - I can always look at the light, but having concrete time count helps my brain.
Achievement & Level - my personal checklists of tasks and bosses. Also helps me bridge the power gap of playing Walter (better damage, passive sanity/hp regen, etc.)
Epic Healthbar - looks cool.
Simple Healthbar - looks nice.
No Thermal Stone Durability - why, KLEI?
Show Bundle - I imagine Walter using a sharpie or a marker to note down the content of the bundling wrap like it's meal prep container.
Finder Redux - stops me from opening every single chest every time I want to deposit 2 glands and 3 silks.
