Probably if the update is coming in early October I’d say your beta starts In early September. and since it’s hardly august right now and only a few days removed from the intermission teaser, I’d say it’s safe to say not to expect a beta anytime soon.

Why would the update come in early october? The last update was in June. almost 2 months already passed. Beta is imminent, since updates are every 3 months.

Scrappy Scavengers was released at 27th of March, Staying Afloat was released at 27th of June, 3 months exactly, so the update would be released at 27th of September.

If the beta lasts for like 3 weeks, we will get it at the beginning of September

Either way the update absolutely isn't going to take as long as the gap between scrappy scavengers and staying afloat

There were 92 days between the release of scrappy scavengers (Mar 27) and staying afloat (June 27). If that gap were to continue, the last 2 updates of the year would be 27th of September & 27 December.

Obviously, that isn't going to happen due to Klei's schedule, which usually takes a break around December-January.

Most likely, in my opinion, the 4th update launches at the start of december, which would mean  we're probably about a month away from the next update's launch if the next two updates are equidistant from each other.

Besides, they mentioned "a few weeks" from a potential beta in the intermission post. So we're almost certainly going to get something either tommorow or next week.

Well since there's no announcement about anything for tomorrow I'd wager we'll get a announcement and preview next week. I'm actually not sure where Klei is located but I'd suspect that they'd try to avoid dropping a new beta right before a holiday weekend (labor day)

We can assume that they will show a preview on their stream on the end of the month and something two weeks after we will see the beta.

Animators gotta animate and concept, coders gotta do them tinkering, animated short animation needs that advertising animating. Big update and big works are being done. No point in trying to predict Klei's unpredictable nature unless you're feeling up to be a hype-man.

There should be a constant experimental branch where the team can play around with things that aren't anywhere near ready to be implemented in game.

Because it's prep for his posts about halloween, he'll expect that it'll be a big spooky themed update and the new schedule means that october isn't going to really get any major updates.
