Kasiornis
I'm just curious. I made two lanterns and they are nice - giving a lot of free light every night. But i'm just wondering - will they work forever or fireflies will die after some nights?Just wanting to illuminate my island making it a little safer :
Shwez
Doesn't they have durability like torches?I manage to create one, but when I tried to pick it up to check the durability, I smashed it instead... forgot I got weapon in hand.
Kasiornis
When I made it it was placed in my inventory and have 100% durability. Then I drop it at ground and lost any option to deal with it, I can only smash it now. That's why I want to know, will it work forever or it will die after some days and there is no point in storing pumpkins for lanterns.
Naowut
Unequip your tools and you can pick it up. I lost about 10% over half a night.
Kasiornis
Yep. I checked it now - it have 38% durability after two nights. The question is answered, thank you.
LadyD
smash it before it runs out. Release the fireflies to keep em
Arrow Del
Oh that's sweet! I was wondering how the lanterns worked 'cause I died *right* before I had a chance to test them ~mutters about the stupid spider swarms~
Ganonn360
Ah so that's why only one of the fireflies is still around. I think it's a bit odd that the fireflies die if the durability ends but not if it's smashed to pieces.
NeedPants
It sounds more like an exploit to me Leave it to the damsels to manipulate lesser beings to their will!
Critter79
Thanks, was wondering if they were worth making as I hadn't had the chance yet. Will have to play with them a little bit.
501105
I personally think catching fireflies and simple setting them loose in your camp is more efficient, plus it looks very nice.

501105
They do for a far as I know and it looks spectacular (otherwise fireflies in the wild would also dissappear and they do not).
