Almost all mods on the steam workshop don't work anymore and the original developers of these mods don't keep them updated anymore. I find ONI to be a kind of unfinished game without things like chained deconstruction and build over plants, etc. I used to have up to a hundred mods installed in my playthroughs and now I can barely find 4 workings mods. Is ONI dying and no one is bothering to mod anymore?

Most mods on the workshop work (those you mentioned as broken arent broken)

Workshop updating is bugged, so if you want to play with mods, mod updater is more or less mandatory to keep them properly updated (mod manager fails at that like the game)

This is not true. I am not the only one facing problems with most mods. There are comments on those mod pages from other people who aren't able to use the mods as well. Are you on an older version of the game?

ofc not. I just use mod updater.

I currently have 374 mods in my list and >95% of them are working

Those mods that are truly gone (author left modding), all have fixed reuploads

chained deconstruction and build over plants, the mods you mentioned, are both functional, they broke last update and got both fixed within days, yet still people will complain the mods are broken because they failed at simply getting mod updater, failing to receive the update.

Mod Updating requiring that mod is obviously not great, but the mod updating system has always been broken and it would need a rewrite to function properly

A good reason for them not being updated at the moment is because they're in the process of releasing a DLC, as such lots of changes and updates are being done, which in turns means that they can break regularly. Once the DLC is out, and the game is less in flux regarding updates, they will probably get updated.

I reinstalled the game and tried running just the Mod Updater and Build Over Plants (Only two mods) and it crashes my game. I tried it on two other different computers and accounts (3 different computers and 3 different accounts). Still doesn't work.  I found out the problem guys, I uninstalled OneDrive and the game works perfectly fine with mods now.

OneDrive must be the most incompetent design ever. I recently had several instances where it first claimed files I just stored did not exist, then claim reading error and, after a few minutes, I could finally access them. That is not professional engineering. That is just trash. Fortunately I only have to use it on one work computer, but still.

I have no idea how you uninstall onedrive. I've been stuck with it forever, and i remember any attempt to uninstall would fail as if it was some vital part of the computer.

Onedrive is not vital, even is MS tries to make you think it is. They want your data, after all. Usually, you just make sure everything is synced and then remove it. But I have never willingly used one-drive and hence have never needed to remove it. It is just on one work computer and there it is pretty broken and pathetic.

From a brief web-search, removing onedrive is potentially unintuitive, cryptic and can result in hard to diagnose errors. Like basically anything on Windows these days. It seems there are free tools that can do it for you and I found quite a few sets of step-by-step instructions. But better have a backup before you do it.

this is true, i had to reinstall my windows after using one of those debloaters because executables just stopped working for me (i still wish windows didn't come with so much useless junk forced into it though)

tbf, oni without mods is not a complete game in comparison

so much qol (and content)

That is indeed correct. For Me I only use mods that are QoL and small tweaks except  DGSM and WGSM,  thats it really. I dont use game changing mods or mods that add new buildings/mechanics altho ive seen some that are tempting lOL.

DGSM and WGSM

those are both game changing (because of long standing bugs in their code).

wgsm always alters worldgen and dgsm gives you dupes that are not balanced around the vanilla balancing (you cannot disable that for both)

the default mods used by the community for these tasks are DSS and CGM (and have been for a while now), since they only change things if you want them to and have more and better implemented features
