still holding out hope for wurt swiming

Recommended Posts

I would really love for this to be added in , and replace the currently underwhelming Mental Fluidity skills,

the swimming skill itself would be at the end of the amphibian tree and to keep the amount of skills the same

the first skill in the tree would be a new one that unlocks some new uses for fish, like for example using the needlenosed fish for sewing or using the lionfish as a spiky hambat replacement.

Honest the main reason i want swiming is cause theres so many references to wurt and merms swimming( her newest skin even talks about ancient merms living in the ocean!)

and because it would synergize very well with her other wetness skills, also its super akward and unimersive to keep up wetness with waterballoons instead of just going swimming.

The thought of this happening over wilsons torch skill rework made me giggle. Would be real funny if it did.

Not to give you too much hope but we are still waiting on at least one more update since the devs said they would be fixing normal merms doing tool damage when they're holding tools.

On stream, they also mentioned looking into making the rose vine bridge work in caves somehow(and I'm pretty sure wormhole was mentioned as well?), but it was also said, that they'd need to "deal with some technical things in the caves first", so uh. Might be some time till that one comes.

Kinda wish they'd bring back the swamp turf bridge the staff used to make...

Honestly, I like that ocean swimming is not tied to an amphibian skill tree, amphibians generally don't get along with salt water, if anything I'd tie wetness to the swamp turf that ought to be wet.

Although I still think there's a better case that Merm's are reptiles, with hybrids like moose/goose around, making a distinction is overly rigid.

I think this stuff is fun, but I'm assuming the problem is how the game handles the player(&maybe structures) being over the void, when the temporary ground breaks.

The technical "thing" is removing void walking, which would kill the speedrun community lol

theres actually an amphibian that can endure somewhat salty water...

and its a frog! google "crab-eating frog" for information.

Would it? They obviously need to make finding atrium easier but from what I've seen they only use it to get to FW or like AG or something. Navigating atrium would be a pain though, I guess.

After playing Reworked (skill tree) Winona, I can safely say that her skill tree seems to solidify that Wagstaffs original role has absolutely been replaced by her and won’t ever be a playable character in DST.

(they can always do fun NEW projector related gameplay for playable Wagstaff in DST.. but for his original gameplay, New Winona pretty much covers most of it.)

Wurt being allowed to swim would remove Walani’s potential to join the game (unless she was heavily reworked)

So the fact that all this time HAS passed and Wurt still hasn’t had swimming added as a gameplay feature tells me one thing:

Klei may be intentionally ignoring giving her this ability because they have plans to bring in Walani later.

I can hope so anyway. *Sad Otter Face*

Wurt's wetness skills already focus on water, so swimming would be a natural extension and make those skills even more powerful. It would also make water balloons less necessary for maintaining wetness. Also maybe different swimming depths could unlock new abilities or resources(she could dive for treasure for example :p) or maybe Wurt could befriend some water creatures while swimming.
